Effect of putter grip change

Can anyone explain the effect of changing to a 30g lighter putter grip? I assume the head will feel heavier, but will it negatively effect performance? Will it change the amount of toe flow?

I currently have a Scotty Cameron Squareback with his standard midsize matador (86 grams). I love the EVNRoll grips (WinnPro X 1.18) and they are 56 grams.

I've always been a solid putter and have really have hit my stride this year. Part of me wants to create what I think would be the perfect putter (for me) but the other part is worried about screwing everything up! Need the smart guys in here to give me some advice!

It'll definitely feel different. I've been tinkering with grips for the last year or so and I still can't quite settle on the right one probably because of weight. I'd say the skinnier the grip is, and the lighter it is, the more weight you'll feel in the head. What I notice with that is you get more feel on the pace of your putts since you really feel the whole weight of the head hitting the ball. However, it seems to give me a little less control at impact. The face is doing a little more than I'm quite used to, although that could be that it's smaller. Maybe see if they make those Evnroll grips with a CB weight. That would definitely help. In the end, worst case is you don't like it, and put the equivalent of the old one back on.

I would do nothing without having a replacement SC grip on hand. Changing a putter grip to one that is lighter will change it significantly. The heft and the balance will be very different. I'd say you have less than a 10% chance of the grip change making things better. It might, but having done similar, the odds are against you. You will not know until you try, but I have put different grips on putters and within 5 minutes cut them off and gone back to the original grip. Changing putters or changing anything with a putter you are putting well with, to me, is crazy.

If balance feels and works right now, dont just do it, but use lead tape and roll onto the shaft in a spiral pattern like it was build up tape. 1 layer as spiral is 25-27 grams who will compensate for the weight loss.

Don't fix what isn't broken! This seems like an opportunity to get a different putter and try the grip on that one need be. Or keep this option for when your putter starts to get squirrelly. Putting is such a physical and mental balance, it's easy to tip it over.

I appreciate you guys talking some sense into me lol. I love that other grip, but I'm really dialed in with the putter right now and don't need to go screwing that up. My handicap thanks you
