PGA Champ to be cancelled due to Coronavirus? (NO POLITICS)

For those that think this is only the flu, why do you think there was/is such a strong containment effort at the source of the virus? Maybe they know something we don't know (and I'm not saying the numbers are just underreported a bit. They are underreported everywhere for various reasons - many of which are practical and not part of a "cover up").

In late-Jan I thought there was a good chance the LPGA events in Asia would get cancelled. Subsequently they were. I'd say the Olympics is around 50/50 at this point (probably a bit better). I'd put the odds for various US sports events at much higher chance of happening though. It would take a war or everyone hiding in a bunker before sports are cancelled there.

One reason death rates are high for this one is the age of the population right now and that the area of the world that is ground zero has brutally bad air quality and sanitation (from Western & European standards). Add in that nearly everyone in Asia still smokes heavily and you have a perfect storm for a respiratory virus to run rampant and have a high mortality rate.

I guess what freaks the WHO and CDC is that this is a new pathogen and there is no known vaccine for it. As most of them are doctors, they generally feel that every life must be saved or they are failures. Don't take this the wrong way people, but 2 Billion people could vanish tomorrow and you wouldn't notice it.
