Student Golf in Philadelphia

Hi everyone,

 

New to GolfWRX. I'm a college student in Philadelphia and was wondering if you all had some suggestions for student/junior memberships. Obviously price is a bit of a concern but I don't know about the public courses in the area. It seems like outside of a couple of expensive courses (Glenn Mills, Broad Run), most of the public ones aren't too great. I've found multiple courses in the area that offer student or junior memberships but don't even know where to start. A summer student membership would be ideal. Any information or suggestions on courses, pricing, etc. would be appreciated.

Glenn Mills has had a high daily fee, but Broad Run hasn't been expensive, unless it has changed. Didn't Cobbs Creek get renovated?

 

I am not up to date on conditions at courses in the Phila area, so I can't advise on courses.

Visit course websites and look for memberships. JR is usually under 17. Some might have full time college student rates.

Lower rates will be at the public courses.

Is there a particular area that would be best? The two courses you mentioned are not exactly close to Philadelphia.

Agreed. There’s tons of courses around so it depends a little more on where exactly you were thinking. From your description it seems more like Chester county area

I recently played jeffersonville and westover both in The East Norriton/Norristown area about 15-20 minutes from conshy. Roughly $60 with cart or $40 to walk. Not bad courses for the price! Jeffersonville was more wide open while westover required shaping your tee shots from the back tees. Both in great condition. Westover did have a couple of tee boxes that were kind of bare but greens and fairways were great.
