Waterproofing Shoes

I've always just rolled my golf shoes straight out of the box on to the course. But got a couple pairs of Adidas Tour 360 during their sale and was wondering if anyone recommend waterproofing them before taking them out or if just best to roll with the waterproofing that Adidas puts on?

I like to rub mink oil on followed up with past wax of the appropriate color.

Not sure on Adidas policy, maybe check with the company or website before you do it.

For example, Footjoy's waterproof warranty is void if you add your own. Ecco is different. The GoreTex protects your feet to keep dry, but Ecco still recommends using their Gore Tex friendly (breathable I presume) waterproofing for the leather surface. I add it even on mesh fabric shoes as it really helps keep them clean.

For over 20 years I've spread Mink Oil on all my new golf shoes (all Footjoy brand). Then midway through the season I add another coat. Never had a problem. Footjoys are very waterproof to begin with and I add the Mink Oil primarily to preserve the leather. The waterproofing is a secondary benefit as the oil prevents the threads which hold the upper to the sole from rotting. It also makes water bead up on the shoe (ala Goretex rain gear) which helps prevent seepage.
