Gonna shoot my age this year.
That's great! I'm 68 and not a single digit. (I'm a 12) I want to do two things before I'm done. 1. Hole in One. 2. Shoot my Age. Chances look slim for both :black eye:

In March I turn 55 and will start getting the senior discount at my local munis. I really don't feel like a senior, even when the various body parts tell me otherwise, but then I was still hanging out in video arcades until I was about 42.

Two grandsons (2 and 2.5 years) makes me feel a little older tho...

Turned 50 three weeks ago tomorrow. I guess I'm a 'senior' now?
What the heck is up with that???
Still not believing I'm 50. Where did the years go? Still feel like I'm in my 20's (at least in my mind, my body feels like its in its 70s).
Got a new set of Pings for my birthday. Lets see how they hold up.
I wish I'd learned what I know now about the golf swing about 20 years ago. Sure would have been simplier.

Just turned 64 and still playing as well ever and have maintained my distance so still playing from Blue tees. However, the body doesn't like to play everyday anymore....needs more time to recover now. Knees, back, and shoulders tend to ache after playing...

 Well I'm part of the 50+ crowd, Just turned 51 last September. Ready to start off a new year, last year was a tough one, been playing golf for fun since I was 13. Last April racing a Old Timer International Motocross Event in So. Cal. I broke my neck in a crash. Needless to say it was a life changing event, required surgery to fuse C-5-6-7 vertebraes together. 8 months later after physical therapy, this extreme sports guy has toned it down a bit. Started working on my short game and putting in July 3 months after the surgery, un-known to both my Dr and my physical therapist. Started taking full swings late August and informed my physical therapist that I had already started playing golf again. He couldn't believe it. Found a book in July at Borders Book Store on Pilates for Golf, Started the workouts along with my physical therapy program at the same time working on core strength and flexability. Then I hooked up on line with this guy nick named the "Surge" he talked about a 3/4 golf swing that was based on body physics and mechanics. I started working on this 3/4 swing in August. Prior to the crash the best round I have ever shot was a 82, last month before the snow hit here in northern Nevada I actually broke 80 for the first time with a 78. Chipped two shots in from off the green for birdies and was thrilled. The Peak Performance Golf swing has allowed me to play as many as 27 holes in one day with no back or neck pain, I'm hitting the ball straighter. Scoring better. Really looking forward to the New Year!!! So everyone out there Happy New Year, See you on the links!!!

My back is a mess, can't hit balls without meds, been to Remax worlds 5 times, 4 top tens, 2nd in 2003, super senior division, will be back there this year in the legends division. Thanks

I just noticed that this thread is over 2 years old. I posted on it when I was 57 and now 59. No hair and not so good feet, but everything in between works pretty good. Resting heart rate the same it's been since I turned 50 at 52. Didn't quite make scratch in 2 years but almost-maybe this spring.

May we all outlive this thread.

I turned 64 a couple of months ago. I've played golf since I was around 15, but became seriously addicted when I moved from NW to North Carolina in late 70's. Generally, was around a 10, but it moved around. In 1994, I went entrepeneurial, and had no time for golf. Quite cold turkey for 10 years. Started again in 2004.

A guy came up to me at the range and complimented me on my swing. He said I ought to join the Seniors Golf League, 55+. Mentally, I don't really don't think Senior, but I joined.
What a deal. The league puts on close to 60 tournaments a year on Mondays and Thursdays from end of March through end of October here is the Tri-Cities area of NE Tennessee. We play a around 20 different courses with a mix of public and private clubs.
Great fun and we compete for prize money in the form of merchandise certificates. No more country clubs for me, this is better.

If any of you live our area, check us out at www.seniorsgolfleague.com

johnnypro, flexibility is a big factor in retaining most of your distance, a good stretching program really helps. Keeping your equipment current also helps. Reducing spin on tee shots by teeing the ball a little higher & hitting slightly up on the ball with the ball positioned off your instep helps. Make sure your weight is going toward the ball on tee shots, keep your head behind the ball at impact. I once had a group lesson from Gary Player & he told me that the proper weight shift was the most important thing in the golf swing. Hope this helps some. Steve D.

51 y/o. 3 hdcp from back tee's (my buddies won't let me move up). Not long off the tee anymore, so I make up for it with my short game.

I am 64, started playing golf at age 10. Fifteen years ago I had a major heart attack, followed by quintuple bypass surgery. I have not broken 80 in almost 40 years, but I am going to do so this summer. I wasted a lifetime, by swinging too hard, and pursuing a classic swing. Now I am older and wiser. I know how to score, and I am going to play "golf", not "golf swing", from now on.

Last week I won a Titleist 975D on Ebay for $0.99, and a Titleist 975J for $2.26. Took them out to the range last Saturday. I hooked the 975D off the planet. But I hit a dozen drives with the 975J which easily carried over the 250 yard marker. My home course is only 6204 yards, 68.8/115. All I need is a driver which will give me 220 yards down the middle. Just yesterday I received an Integra SoooLong Titanium Driver head, 400 cc, 12 degrees. Now I have to decide on a shaft. My ss on the Golftown Launch monitor last week was 100 mph.

I have lost 13 pounds since Christmas, plan to lose 20 more before summer. I have done manual labor in a warehouse, 40 hours per week for the past 5 years. So I am actually physically stronger than I was in my 40's. Really looking forward to this golf season!
