Fujikura Rombax experiences ?

Recommended Posts

Anyone using,or tried this shaft and can share their experiences ?

What player profile/swing type is this designed to be suited to ?

Does it play to flex ?

Is it a smooth feeling shaft ?

Did it really drop those RPM numbers for you ?

etc etc etc

Send Joe Kwok (joey3108) a PM and he'll help fit you with the proper shaft. For what it's worth, I installed a Rombax in a Tour r7 and did not like it at all. I think the shaft plays slightly stiffer than flex and mine was an "X" tipped only a half inch.

I have a Rombax Proto 8021 in X flex, untipped in an R7 Tour 10.5. I am a low launch/high spin (bit unusual) player and this combo works great for me. I tested it on Titleist's launch monitor and it out-performed anything else the Science Van could throw at me. I have a quick transition with a bit of lag that results in the low launch angle, but with a higher lofted head this shaft really performs - and it is very tight dispersion wise. Just my $.02

I've tried it in 2 drivers..

1. J340.. I hit some of the longest drives in my life with this combo..it was just a test to see if I would like it...I did ofcourse..

2. FT-3... Honestly my swing went south when it was in this head.. I had some very good results, but I having a tough time with hitting off the heel.

Obviously not the shafts fault, but I have to change something. I may return to it again somtime soon in this head or another head.

My SS is around 105-110..high launcher and high spin player..and yes the rombax brought down my spin compared to the tipped 553 and Diamana 53x I was playing before. Dispersion is very tight, but the shaft retains it's smoothness.

I actually have one now in my fusion 3w...again my swing is struggling so I dont want to rush to any conclusions. My kasco with PM902x is treating me a little better so I'm playing that one right now.

Thanks for the replies so far...............

Just tinkering with the idea that this shaft MAY suit me.Been suffering with high spin issues on my driver for a couple of years i guess, and im about to do something about it !!!!!

My SS is approx 114-118mph,very quick transition, possibly some lag,i get a good launch angle but always get pretty high spin (3500+ rpm).Im in the UK (bear in mind the weather + atmosphere here) and carry my driver from 250 yards to 265 yards maximum and as mentioned get very little run.

I feel that relatively i dont hit my driver nowhere near as far as my irons.Seen some great reports on this shaft relating to lowering spin-rates and also on the very quick recovery time and just pondering to myself if this shaft will suit my swing and he problems i have.......?????

I AM STICKMANS FATHER AND A 1 HDCP. I HAVE A REGULAR FLEX ROMBAX IN MY 905T AND IT PLAYS TRUE TO FLEX AND SMOOTH AND ACCURATE. I ALSO HAVE A SPEEDER 757 IN THE SAME COMBO AND SWITH OFF EVERY FEW ROUNDS. I FELT THE SPEEDER GIVES ME LESS BACKSPIN THAN THE ROMBAX AND IS ABOUT 5 YRDS LONGER ALTHOUGH YOU CANNOT BEAT THE SMOOTH FEELING OF THE ROMBAX. EXCELLENT AND ACCURATE AND I THINK THEY ARE COMING OUT WITH A 60 GRAM VERSION SOON.

Thanks for that - have read a few reports of the 757 climbing/ballooning if you chase one a bit or into the wind etc.Thats the only thing that worries me about it.In saying that isnt it the most "winnigest" shaft on Tour right now ????
