712u vs U500 or other driving irons

I dont think I've seen any comparisons between the 712u and U500 yet. Wondering if it's worth upgrading from the 712u. I still hit my 712u 2i really well but it's mostly from the tee. I can get nice low runners but from the turf it's not something that elevates that well. Would definitely like something that would allow me to go for par 5s in two.

I can only speak on the 3 & 4 iron but u500 was significantly better than the 712u for my game it had higher launch and a tad more forgiving (Longer) on slight toe/heel strikes. Had higher (still low in comparison) spin with a steeper decent angle as well but still able to get the stinger and flight it low. I actually ended up with the u510 with a low launch shaft and its an ugly one but does everything better for me.

If the 712u is still working for you maybe look into a new shaft to get some higher launch characteristics or just make the $250 upgrade you probably won’t regret either choice.

The U510 doesn't look or sound as good, but launches much easier. My U510 4 goes as far as my 712U 3.

That’s exactly what I did. I ordered a Tour AD-DI to go into my 712U 3 iron to replace the KBS Tour steel shaft that I had in there and it has worked an absolute treat. Getting more off it from the tee and better launch off the deck which makes it much more viable long term.

Right on. I should’ve had the caveat that the heads between the two are probably marginal in performance but the shaft on the u500 when testing was wayyy better. I believe I was testing in a tour AD DI as well only bc I kept referring to it as the Jordan Spieth Open Shaft lol

The u500 is a great club with a lot of no upcharge shafts including tensei pro white, atmos tour spec black, evenflow white, and the stock hzrdus smoke black.

I put my 712u 3 back in the bag after endlessly struggling with other utilities.  That thing did NOT deserve to be sitting in the basement.

 

I was tempted to get a u500 but really don't know if I can do better than my 712u.  It's been a very strong addition in my bag for 2022 and I wish I never benched it!  The best part is I just found a matching 4 with a Pxi and now I can swap them out depending on the course!

U500 much more forgiving without getting “too much” bigger. Loved it so much, wish I didn’t ho it away.. 😂
