Hoofer vs Hoofer Lite

The Hoofer and Hoofer Lite have been reincarnated and adjusted to the point that the differences between them are not particularly clear. In this regard they’re very similar to Titleist V1 and V1x balls. The manufacturer is very reluctant to call one of them ‘better’ than another in any regard, since that might indicate weakness in the other product. They therefore both have enhanced spin, greater feel, control, etc.

The descriptions on the Ping website describe the Hoofer as having more pockets, more gadgets, and a 5-way top, at the expense of slightly greater weight and cost. It says nothing of the only really significant difference IMO, which is shape. The Hoofer is far more round. If you’re going to be using the bag strapped to a cart or trolley, a round shape is preferable, as it’s more stable, and doesn’t tend to deform the bag when strapped down.

However, for walking, a flatter side and padding configuration is advantageous, and this is what the Lite provides. If you have a store available with both, just load clubs in each and walk around a bit. The difference isn’t subtle.

Thanks Jeff. I have been walking since last year using a push cart. My callaway bag is more of an oval shape causing it to twist and turn when using the push cart. I do not mind carrying, but wanted a bag that would be great for either. I would like to carry more so I have been looking at the Lite as well as the sun mountain 4.5 bags and some others. I want the bag that says Ping but functionally want the convenience to just toss the clubs in the car and go without having to take the push cart. I found a great deal on a SM 4.5 bag but it is Camo. While I think it is a neat bag, I do not know how I will like the camo after a few months. Just at a stand still and undecided right now

If you walk and carry, with occasional riding in a cart, the Hoofer Lite is the way to go in my opinion. It's just slimmer profile overall and carries flawlessly on the shoulders.
