Jumping to Unread Posts

When clicking on a thread, the site either takes me to the very first post (which is annoying if it is a multi-page thread that I've already read), or it takes me to the last post, even if I haven't read several posts before the last. 

Is there a setting to fix this or is it just a bug?

Yes. Just posted in @BirdieBob's thread in this forum, as it seems his issue and mine are likely related.

Same issue here. Doesn't go to first unread.

DIFFERENT BOARD gentlemen.

 

Clicking on the TITLE of the thread, unlike the previous board, ALWAYS takes you to the FIRST post on the thread.

The round "button" or the "star" to the left of a thread title both do the same thing - they take you to the first UNREAD post.

The star indicates you’ve posted on that thread already, the button means you have not.

If you want the LAST post of the thread, to the RIGHT there is the last poster’s name AND a date/time below their name. Click on the date/time.

While I understand your point, the issue is that I have setup custom activity streams that are setup to take me to the last unread post and it isn't working. I'm either still being taken to the first post of the thread or the last post, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to which happens.

OK, I didn't see you mention a "custom activity stream" but no matter how you list things they should all work the same once listed. The custom activity stream should organize the threads you see by the content you want to see but the listing of such threads should still work the same.

What do you mean by "clicking on a thread" ? Clicking on the title, the button to the left or the date/time of the last post (to the right) ? And does your activity stream appear the same as say, "Unread Content" (except FOR the threads listed of course) ?

My initial post may not have been as clear as it should have been; I apologize.

 

I've created several custom activity streams. The one pictured below ("All Content") is setup such that when I click a thread, it should take me to the first unread comment. However, this is not happening. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but it seems like the below settings should take me to the first unread comment no matter what I click on. Again, this is just an annoyance, because I can still click on the circle or star and that appears to be working. However, it seems like this particular functionality (setting custom activity streams) is not working properly. I was just trying to flag the issue so it could be looked into at some point.

OK, I think I've got you now. I re-created your stream and tried it out.

 

Not sure it's 100% but it APPEARS as though the system is taking you to the first unread post SINCE the cutover.

 

When I do it I see that the post directly in front of where it takes me is from August 11 or earlier - which actually makes some sense as I'm thinking the database that holds everything you've read isn't one that's carried over to the new board.

 

Once you've now read that thread clicking on the title then takes you to the first post in the thread, I assume once someone else posts to the thread again, if you use your stream, clicking on the title OR the button/star should take you to the first unread post.

 

BTW, once you create you "main" Activity Stream you can click on it and the SAVE it in your browser's bookmarks and whenever you click on the bookmark it WILL give you that activity stream.

This is what I was looking for.  Thanks.  Clicking the "round button" to the left of each thread now  Woohoo!
