Dublin, Ireland course recommendations?

Oh man...that is a easy drive. ..it is about 1:45 from the airport...motorway for the majority of the way.  But yeah...right off the plane is tough...but geez, you are there and that would be tough to pass up.  I am not sure you should pass it up.

Maybe we can do The Island right off the plane, then make the drive to RCD on Thursday, then drive over to Shannon on Friday. How would The Island be right off the plane compared to RCD?

this definitely...I read your post as not playing Thurs.  Much better choice.

Then check in; relax and then go to the once of the best restaurants in Dublin - Il Vicoletto (make a reservation well in advance).   If you can't get in there, I recommend trying Etto.

Other really nice options:  Bloom, Wilde, L'ecriavain  or Patrick Guibauld (if you want to splurge)

Then Thur head up to RCD.  Play an amazing round and then go to Great Jones Craft & Kitchen for the best smoked salmon chowder on earth...plus great drinks.

Do you know where you are staying as yet? Personally I’d avoid anywhere in temple bar for food, your hotel can recommend somewhere decent close to it, depending on whether you would prefer a less touristy experience etc and where you are staying.

The island nice and close to airport, can’t get much closer really, although as it happens, Portmarnock golf club (snd portmarnock links at the hotel next door) is 15 mins away also.

also when is your trip? We are currently locked down with all golf, bars, restaurants closed, reviewed on Jan 30th but most people expecting at least March before things start to reopen and then probably members only at most clubs for month or two. You will be fine when you travel west but in dublin all members clubs will be tricky to get out on until June at least.

Our trip is. The first week of Feb. I have not booked a place to stay yet. I’m thinking about an Airbnb on the north side of town, or using my Hilton points to stay downtown.

February 2022 I hope, at least then there is some chance of golf. Although first week in Feb is basically the middle of winter here, some chance of links golf being open but probably absolutely unplayable penal conditions. Most courses off some kind of winter setup, 9 or 14 holes in play.

Ah, well that’s a lot better and certainly a lot more hopeful restrictions wise. October is borderline weather wise, especially for links wind wise but first week will hopefully be ok, we often get good weather up until last week in September. You could also get a very windy, rainy week in the west. .  you will have lost a lot of daylight though. You can play daily from 5am until 10pm in June but by October it’s 8am to 7pm or so, limits being able to work around the weather a bit.

Thanks for the info. Crossing our fingers for good weather, but we’re prepared if it’s not.
