i posted a comment in the JT thread. asked a moderator about it, response was to post here. 

 

then the comment got deleted. asked a moderator about it again and the response was to post here. 

 

so now i’m posting here and wondering why my comment got deleted.

As I stated in pms to you, I do not moderate the board.  
 

The comment was deleted because it was not appropriate and therefore deleted. Whether trying to be flippant or funny, it would not be approved

Hi GX,

 

I am a long -time member of this site, and recently I had two posts deleted, and frankly I am not happy about it. It seems that certain opinions are not welcome on the board anymore, quite unlike how it used to be. I am really sorry to see this happen, and I am considering ending my participation here. I hope you will respond by PM or here to my question/complaint.

I also had a quoted comment that showed as hidden and now I can’t find it. It was in the morning drive thread and my response was a critical review of the new format and show. I did speak about politics as it was a quote in reference to the same thing. Not sure if that is why it was deleted or not but nothing I said was inappropriate. No foul language and no direct insults other than saying nbc was ruining the golf channel (and others have stated the same). If I broke a forum rule, I get it and I’ll accept the post being deleted. But nothing I said was inappropriate nor was their any foul language. Just a simple opinion about the direction the golf channel is going and how badly they treated a golf legend today.

Comments are moderated to prevent escalation.  If it was deleted, then it is purely based on that and not wanting to babysit threads.  

 

No political agendas.

 

If you want to continue to push a viewpoint then there are other places for that. 
 

Do not pm me for reasoning as those are at final discretion of moderators.

I get the need for de-escalating things, believe me.  I also get not wanting to babysit threads because that is ridiculous.  I didn't think anything I said was out of line and my reply was an agreement with a post that I was replying to.  I just don't see how removing a reply that was agreeing with a post that was already posted does anything constructive.  The threads and forums are always a good way of communication between people and sometimes it does unfortunately get out of hand.  Removing a post that agrees with an already "approved" post seems excessive though.  Just my opinion and I respect the rules of the site.  I reported another attempted reply of mine that was shorter in length than the first and less of a criticism and it too was deleted.  I'm guessing there are key words used to immediately hide posts to temporarily keep the banter down and I get that (and appreciate it!).  I don't feel that suppressing people's opinions is a good thing but I guess I can either accept it or move on from the forum itself.  There are a lot of viewpoints pushed on here in numerous threads daily.  I know there are limited people monitoring posts and not everything is going to get removed that doesn't need to be here.  But...it does seem that there is a lack of consistency of moderating certain things.  I wasn't pushing any certain viewpoint other than I agreed with another member.  I also won't PM a moderator for any reasoning, hence why I posted in here.  Some of the threads have very critical reviews from varying viewpoints...removing the thread rather than deleting certain comments in them would probably be a better way of keeping things civil.
