Why does Odyssey refuse to make better headcovers ??

Does anyone on the inside have legitimate answer as to why the most used putters on tour have the ugliest headcovers? 

You would think focusing on after market or limited series covers would be a great revenue stream. Even when they bring out a limited series cover it never fails to disappoint. 

I would even say tiny companies like SWAG or TBC make a considerable profit on something that requires zero R&D. Why not the big name in putters ?

I would say so to certain degree. When it comes to OEM covers they all are pretty standard and boring. However both Taylormade and Ping have much better aftermarket and limited covers. Just look at the spider putter covers, some are highly collectible. Something that can't be said for Odyssey

When you have to make tens of thousands of headcovers you're going to go with the cheapest option that works. Also quality will suffer which is why most OEM covers for OTR clubs suck.

You figured they could at least attempt to make a higher end and definitely more appealing after market cover. Take a. Ur from all the other manufacturers and make limited edition major covers.

Lots of nice limited edition Odyssey covers available in leather with magnetic closure to be found without much effort looking, for much cheaper than those of other makers- Tour Swirl, En Fuego, Lights Out, Dropping Bombs, No 3 Jacks, etc..now, I do agree that stock ones are definitely lacking.

By the way, they do make major championship limited edition covers as well, the one from PGA championship at Quail Hollow was especially nice, of course- being from NC, I might be biased a bit 😀

Since Austie is no longer with Odyssey, will be interesting to see which direction lots of things trend.

Odyssey covers look ok to me but they sure  don’t hold up very well. The piping shows wear after one round. I bought the US Open limited headcover and the blue on it flaked off in no time. They charge way too much for them to fall apart so fast.

The Odyssey headcovers have their place in the world. They are great to put on your Scottie Cameron at the course so you don't have to worry about someone lifting your putter when you go to the head between the nines.

They sell putters, not covers.

 

The avg golf consumer doesn't care, only enthusiasts like wrx members.  Those enthusiast are a very small buying public.

The velcro on my Odyssey headcover wore out in a few months.  I don't even care if the headcover is aesthetically pleasing, it just needs to work and preferably for at LEAST at year.
