Need info and opinions on shafts for pxg gen 4 P

Hey guys, I need some help and information. Used to play a lot of golf but now kids play travel softball and I coach high school softball so time has been limited. Ive been playing a set of Scratch SB 1 blades forever. Soft stepped x 100s but ive gotten older and have lost a lot of distance over the last few years. Shafts are a major problem im sure. My club guy is in North Carolina and I dont have a weekend free to get there. We played softball in Alabama this weekend and during a rain delay I ran to Edwin Watts to hit some irons. I ended up liking the Mizuno 921 forged head. I hit it with several shafts but Im going to post numbers from two of them.  They didnt have the clubs in stock and told me that it would take 8 to 10 weeks to order. Thats a hard NO for me. I call my club guy this morning and he tells me that comparing this Mizuno head to the PXG gen 4 head is like comparing a pinto to a ferrari. Any info he has given me over the years has been spot on and ive always been thrilled with his work with my drivers. So i have two questions...... Which shaft would you choose by the numbers im going to give you? They were a money taper stiff and a nippon modus 105. My club guy says the modus without a doubt but also talk to me about the true temper elevate. The edwin watts guys leaned toward the money taper. They said the spin rates were better but I hit the modus a full club farther with the same launch. I assume the launch monitor would simulate the results appropriately but who knows........

So i guess im asking for more than one answer. Which shaft? Which head? Mizuno or PXG? and then how does the elevate compare to the two shafts that I hit? Im going to post numbers. These were 20 swing averages at Edwin Watts. I believe the monitor was a flightscope. All with a 7 iron

Money taper stiff

club head speed 76.7

ball speed 111.1

eff 145

launch angle 19.5

side spin 1017L

back spin 5586

Nippon Modus 105 stiff

club head speed 78.2

ball speed    113.2

eff 145

launch angle 19.2

side spin 777L

back spin 5104

Thanks in advance for the info. The mizuno head is off a 45 degree PW and the PXG P is a 44. Handicap over the last 10 years has been a 3-7,,, its probably higher than that now, due to lack of play.

The Gen4 P head you're talking about is outstanding. I've hit them and they performed outstanding with the Nippon 105 S. But I'm a Gen3 T guy and prefer the smaller profile and less offset as compared to the P. I also have a Gen2 P set, both of those sets with the Modus 105 S. However, comparing the Modus 105 to the $ taper is like apples to oranges. For starters, different weighted shafts based on the specs. I would track down a PXG fitter near you and have them dial you in with whatever shaft you works best for you. The TT Elevate Tour is a good shaft, which is a 10g heavier than the Modus and closer to the $ taper. Plus its included with the current pricing. Good thing about Gen4, they will adjust the swing weight using the large weight on the back to get you dialed in perfectly.  The feel and performance on PXG Gen4 is really nice and you're not going to go wrong if you choose them.

Ive came from a set of scratch blades and have played ap 2 in the past. I was told the heads of the t and p look very similar. I want some forgiveness if I can get it but i have to like what im looking at.

Which would you suggest for a 5-8 handicap,,,ball striking is better than my short game.

Lucky you, I'm the perfect golf junkie to help you out. I'm a 6 handicap and prefer the T over the P. The T are really forgiving and I would recommend them for anybody under a 10 handicap who strikes the ball well. A few weeks ago, I bought the 0211 ST, which are identical in size to the T, with slightly smaller soles. They're also cast, and don't include any of the magical goo, but they are very soft feeling as well and a heck of a lot cheaper if that even matters.  In those, I put the TT elevate tour stiff, so I do have experience with the shaft. I will eventually get the Gen4 T, but I just bought the Gen3 T a year ago so I'm holding off for now. When I hit the Gen4 T I was getting 5 -7 yards more distance over Gen3.

I think Nippon may have the best iron shafts in the game.  I have Gen 3 Tours right now and ordered the Elevate Tour Stiff because I was too cheap to pay the upcharge.  Regret it.  I am dropping my clubs off tonight to have them reshafted to modus 105.  Modus 105 has worked for me in every set of irons I've ever had them in.  They are the only shaft I can say that about.

I'd go modus and then look for a ball with a bit more spin to get that up a little
