MOI Matching - Short Length

Can you please post the specs from your notes with both head wgt, shaft wgt , grip wgt and total weight?

Are you saying that the numbers moved from DRY FIT on the MOI scale to built clubs?
Did you check final length after epoxy, BEFORE grips?

I just checked the final lengths of the fully built clubs, and I see what happened. There was one interval between clubs that had a 4/8 difference instead of a 3/8 difference and one that had a 2/8 difference instead of a 3/8 difference. I may have had this issue because of an assumption I made earlier that all clubs would require tip weights, when in fact they did not, so there was a mistake there. The good thing though is that although there is a couple of mistakes in length, the MOI numbers match because of some of the adjustments that i made with lead tape after the clubs were fully built.

Working on pulling together all my notes/numbers. At times, I didn't record numbers when I should have and instead was focused on the MOI measurement on the machine during various stages of the build.

@Howard_Jones somewhat relevant question for this thread. I’ve used your help to have an moi-ish set done a while back but I’m not sure I started wit( a solid enough base club.

Anyway, I have basically stumbled into a magic 4 hybrid setup and I want to set up another club longer than it. Here’s what I have: 818h2 23* turned down to 22* and 1 flat with modus 105x 4-iron shaft playing length 38.25” and d3 swingweight. Can’t remember which head weight is inside, but it was either 2 or 4g heavier than stock.

I have a TS3 19* head on the way, and I have another 105x with a titleist tip on it that I think was a 3-iron shaft. Since the 19* is two clubs different but only 4* different, I figure I can back into the MOI equivalent between the 2 regardless of head weight. If I make final playing length 3/8” longer for every 7 grams of lighter head weight then shouldn’t that be matched up?

I do have a gram scale but not to the 1/10th position. I have a swingweight scale. I use the 818h2 instead of a 4 iron, and I’d like the Ts3 to function between a 2 and 3 iron equivalent. There’s 1* lie angle difference between the two heads, but that’s also adjustable so I have some flexibility here.

In theory if the ts3 shows up with 14g lighter head then I put it on the 3/4” longer shaft and set the hosel the same and I’m done without even putting it on SW scale, right? TIA

If you want a MOI match using the SW scale, simply use the formula for length vs SW
1 inch = 1.33 SWP

If play length difference is 3/8" between this clubs
(1.33 SWP / 8 ) x 3 = 0.498 or 0.5 SWP difference

if play length difference is 6/8" the formula becomes
(1.33 SWP /8 ) x 6 =  0.998 or 1.0 SWP difference

Shorter is UP, longer is DOWN

If the shortest is good as D3, and the next is 6/8" longer, your target is D2 for that club
