G/Fore MG4+ Review

Super comfortable right out of the box.  I walked 18 holes in the MG4+ and found them to be stable with great grip on a firm dry course.  They were a little hot to wear, although it was a mid 80"s day.  The toe is more squared off than I expected from the pictures on the web site.  Sort of in the family of what I think the Squarez must look like.  Not the best looking golf shoes that I own, and not the best looking that G/Fore make, although I could walk forever in them.  Footjoy and Nike generally don't fit me well, while ECCO, Adidas and G/Fore generally do.  Fit and comfort are massively subjective, but I would consider these to be workhorse shoes.  Not particularly stylish, but comfortable and stable with very good grip.

I have a couple of pairs.  The first pair I ordered at my typical shoe size.  It was pretty snug at first so the 2nd pair I ordered a half size up.  After wearing them both several times now I feel like they stretch a little with wear and the first pair is the most stable.  Both are extremely comfortable and I could easily wear them all day without problem. They hold up well and are pretty easy to clean as well.  I use a dish soap and water on the outers with a soft bristle brush and wire brush for the rubber soles.  Great shoes.

I wore a pair of these in rotation last year and found them to be very good shoes with great grip and waterproofing.  The toe box could have been a tiny bit wider but better than most in this regard. The pleather upper is comfortable and great for cool weather golf but in hot temps I did not feel that they breathed as well as my Eccos and Jordans so they have been relegated to winter wear.

Not a fan. Absolutely no breath ability. Not good for the AZ heat.

I'm looking for my first spikeless shoes and am interested in these plus the ProSLs. Has anyone worn both? I'm curious for comfort, traction/stability, and durability comparisons (esp of the traction on the soles).

I own both, ProSL and MG4+. To me, the ProSL is lighter and more breathable. The MG4+ is slightly more comfortable and has more traction. I prefer the styling of the MG4+, but that’s just personal preference. You really can’t go wrong with either shoe.
 

If I was walking most of the time I would probably go with the ProSL just because of how light they feel on foot.

Thanks for the details. I generally walk, and sometimes it's pretty hot and humid where I live, so sounds like the ProSL may be a better option.

Saw these in the store last night.  Seems like they would fine for dry weather, but the bottom doesn't look like it would be very grippy in any kind of moisture at all.  Is this the case?

They are pretty darn grippy.  I too, thought the same and they work very well.

Thought the same but haven’t slipped at all, even in wet conditions.

Great shoes, very comfortable and stable! Surprisingly good traction with a sneaker type sole.

My only pair of of g/fore currently is the Gallivanter, which I had to get in a wide. How are these in comparison width wise?

I also wear a wide in the Gallivanter, went up a .5 size and they fit well.  Frankly, I was surprised.

Contacted G/Fore and they recommended MG4+. I have big toe arthritis. Anyone else with this problem who has used this shoe?
