DIY Enclosure Users, what covering are you using?

I built out a nice DIY enclosure that has been working great for me, however the one thing I'm not too happy with is how I decided to cover the sides and top.

 

I used big bedsheets with hand punched grommets and in retrospect it was a pretty bad decision as when beginners want to hit shots the ball goes through the gaps on the sides.

 

What materials have y'all used that works well and is pretty cheap?

 

My next idea would be to go get a giant tarp and wrap it around the whole enclosure tightly, but I'm interested to hear better ideas before I commit to that.

Heavy Duty Golf Netting High Impact Practice Barrier Net. Works great

To echo what nbar said above ^^, I found some sports netting on ebay. Strong stuff that is used in baseball batting cages and golf nets. I cut horizontal strips to fit the sides of my enclosure (2.5 feet wide and 10 feet high) but cut it wide enough to wrap around the back side of the screen slightly to close off the gaps where the screen connects to the enclosure. 

 

When I started off with my sim I had a black tarp but I had a few balls escape and smash into the wall behind. Since I've put the netting up there's been no problems.

When you say "cut it wide enough to wrap around the back side of the screen slightly to close off the gaps where the screen connects to the enclosure", I'm failing to picture how you would attach that to the back with enough tension to stop a golf ball going through the sides

It overlaps the back of the screen by about 2 feet. I connected the top and bottom of the net to the cage and then also used zip ties to fasten it to the corner bar where it wraps around. 

 

You could also just wrap the entire thing in netting and have it go all the way behind your screen.

This would be an ideal solution I think but I've got 5 feet of depth to my enclosure and am having a hell of a time finding any sort of fabric or netting that is big enough to cover the whole thing

Search ebay for "nautical nets bouys and more." That's the name of the ebay store where I bought mine. Once in their store, clock the "golf nets" tab. They have some pretty large sizes. At worst, you could always attach 2 nets together to make 1 really big one. 

 

Baseball batting cage netting might also work, just have to make sure the size of the holes in the netting is small enough to contain a golf ball. That same ebay store also has a lot of batting cage netting. They have great reviews as a business and I remember getting mine super fast.

YIKES lol. 26'x13' makes that a remarkably expensive net.

 

The eBay store has some that would fit that are much more reasonable

I bought from this website, I got the #18 3/4 inch net when the pandemic started and it just recently got a hole from wear and tear.  So I got about 2 years out of it.  Just wore out from hitting the same spot, should have probably rotated or moved it around to mix it up.  

 

Since you are only looking to cover the top / sides you could probably even opt for the #18 1 inch net which is a little cheaper.  They can also do custom sizing.

I used cloth from Chicago Canvas. For me I think the projected image looks better having the black cloth frame out the screen. Netting would've been cheaper, but the trade off of better picture quality was worth it for me.
