Nike Pro-Combo

DoubleCup

Recommended Posts

I got into a bidding war on eBay 2 weeks ago and I won (and paid for!) a set of Pro Combo Tours, almost new. They look awesome, they were great at the range and the shafts were TT DG S300.

I will place them in play this week at West Point GC Tuesday...

Nike should have kept making these irons!

The best set of irons NIKE has come out with, hard to beat perfection! I hope the USGA's "groove change" does not eliminate this set from the market for professionals by 2010.

Mine are getting worn. I wish I could find a set of PC Tour's. I've hit evrything, still prefer these for feel, looks and overall performance. The VR's are nice, but they don't do what these do for my taste. There are still a few Nike Staff (non-conformists) playing the PC Tour's. I think as well as most of the others playing them, agree, they're hard to replace!

A seller has listed teh Pro Combo Tours with the SpeedStep shaft.

If the Pro Combo Tours have a SpeedStep shaft does that mean the seller might have listed the original Pro Combo's by mistake? From what I read on here, it seems only the originals came with the SpeedSteps. I'm wary of getting the SpeedSteps since my ballflight is fairly high already.

I picked up a new left handed set of the Pro Combos on ebay yesterday with 6.0 Rifle shafts 2-PW for a shade over $220, shipped. There were six sets for sale but they didn't last long. There are a number of RH sets for the same price, but with the SpeedStep shaft and only 3-PW, not a bad price if someone is looking to replace a worn set or in need of a backup.

that is correct, according to posts here and other forums, the original PCs are shafted with the SpeedSteps. the tours are DG. i recently bought the orginal PCs and they are nice, good looking and easy to hit. i've read that the SS do promote a higher ball flight, but i've yet to experience that trajectory. give them a try, i know i will and if i have to change the shaft at some point i will.

Yeah, the first set he had up for sale which ended within the hour were "Pro Combo Tours" but it had SpeedSteps so I didn't pull the trigger. The auction up now states that it is the original "Pro Combo" with the SpeedSteps. Let me know how the irons work out for you. I am taking the Adams Tight Lies GT Tour, Nike CCi non-forged, and Adams Idea Pro to the field this weekend to check out how they play. If all three fail, then I might pull the trigger on the orig. Combos.

Turns out that the 6 sets of 2-pw with Rifle 6.0s had a mix of Speedstep and Rifle shafts and I was unlucky enough to get one with the Speedstep shafts. Dallasgolf.com has offered to refund $40 which I accepted. These are D0 swingweight and the shafts feel very light to me, especially compared to my mp-32s, so i'll either resell them or reshaft.

I had played the original PC for almost 5 years. Made the mistake to go to forged far too early as I was still shooting well above 110 at the time, and definitely paid my price early on. As I became better, the irons performed flawlessly. The SS shaft was definitely a little on the light side, but since I learned on it, I got very use to it and the high ball flight.

As these getting worn, I started looking for replacements a year ago, and had a very difficult time getting use to anything with DG S300 shaft. A year later I finally worked my way into a set of CCi Forged with DG shaft. But I really still miss the PC's.

Now the 5 iron shaft is broken (exactly when the CCi's arrived), I am debating if I should re-shaft the set with Rifle and keep it as backup.

Bought a set of these irons at the beginning of this season. They were pretty hard to hit at first, coming from a set of old Pro Select irons that I played for 7 years. This was the first season I got a golf membership and decided to take the game a little more seriously. I was hit or miss with these irons for the first couple months of the season, but they definitely helped me improve my ball striking and brought my handicap down from 13 to 6 this season. The blades are very accurate, and feel awesome. The rest are still harder to hit, but do have a little forgiveness. Was contemplating all season going to something more forgiving, but am glad that I kept them. They definitely improved my game and showed me how to hit the ball properly. Definitely recommend them to anyone looking to improve their ball striking and take their game to the next level.
