Club at Sonterra Membership

Hi, 

 

I’m age 36 and no family, scratch player. I’ll be contacting the club directly, but was wondering if anyone here could give me a heads up on Sonterra membership, specifically: 

 

1. cost (initiation and dues) 

 

2. Is there a current waitlist? 

3. Are there regular games? Not big money or anything, just larger groups who play small skins or team games.

 

4. General club atmosphere (younger, older, stuffy, more chill) 

 

5. Tee time availability issues or any other things I should be wary of? 
 

6. Any other clubs I should consider if I want regular games/groups and good conditions?

I was able to find information on their website when I was thinking about joining a club. From my memory they have a few different options depending what you are looking for.

Just so you know, the club's owners are selling all their golf properties and hope to close the transaction(s) by September.

I was planning on living in the Stone Oak area, so it’s close. If there’s another club within 30 minutes that has regular group/games, I would definitely consider. Not interested in playing public tracks as a single and getting paired up with randoms honestly. I did that all this past year and it just isn’t that great. Not that there were bad people, because most were very nice, but a lot you end up chasing their ball around and it’s nice to have a team game or skins on the line, even if it’s for only a few bucks.

Oak Hills and TPC would be your only two other options. I am just not a fan of the Sonterra tracks in general, so I can be a bit of a Sonterra hater. 

 

They have not sold off their properties yet, but they are for sale, the intent is to keep them golf courses from what I was told.
