It's almost exactly the same. They kept banning bats and restricting manufactures to eventually rolling back the ball. All of which I agreed with especially as a pitcher. The bats were way too hot. I think it helped kill the sport. 

 

The last thing I want to see in golf are shaved composite drivers.

The thing about this quote is... The tolerances are dogsh*t. You go buy a 9 degree Stealth and it might be 8.3 degrees or 10 degrees. You go use the fitting heads at a big box or boutique fitter that thing has seen hundred or thousands of balls and likely got hotter. You also might be using one in the fitting that is closer to 10 degrees and then it arrives and you don't understand why you're hitting knuckleballs all of a sudden even though the fit was so good. Think about it, their number 1 staffer aside from Tiger and arguably the best driver of the ball the PGA tour has ever seen and TM can't find him a head he likes. Agreed - but you have to assume they got a bunch of heads that match his previous drivers specs to a tee and he just cant get comfortable in them because of feel - or his previous Stealth just "broke in" differently or something.

Super interesting. The Tour issue heads have CT on them obviously but also actual loft and face angle. The thing is I think twist face is a bit weird in that regard and I have heard of Tiger etc having twist face.. let's just say butchered a little bit as it's weird to toe a ball and not see it draw back etc. So I do wonder if some of those variables have made it difficult.

 

I also think that he's just in a funk and of course there's blame the equipment folks on here I mean there are threads in the T&PR section that are like "so and so put a ventus in his hybrid maybe I should too even though our swings are nothing alike and I have no idea what his numbers are" lol

I pitched as well.  Best thing I ever did was stop playing competitive stuff and join a wood bat league…still don’t have much of a chance on some middle shots but it’s not nearly as bad.
