Maybe. Probably. The cost for GC2 repairs is getting pretty steep. IMO, ST+ is a superior product as well, so eventually that will make sense to explore.

Did i miss my chance, had one more question. I've noticed that some details like distance or spin are different between the skytrak app VS TGC2019 when weather/wind conditions are the same. Why is that?

Probably grass type, slope, elevation, etc.

Hello Pjpurdy - Can you give an example of that when you are seeing in the TGC2019 interface? How are you comparing the the numbers on the SkyTrak app and TGC2019 since they can't be running at the same time?

Hate i didn't think of this prior to today's Q&A, but will this work well in a covered area such as an outdoor pool cabana or covered patio?  I used to have my OG Skytrak in my garage and plan to use the new one in a covered outdoor patio/cabana.  I expect to mainly use it in the evening when the sun is down so i'm assuming it should still produce accurate #'s and perform as the developers intended.  Confirmation would obviously be wonderful.

Hello Barto - Yes, you can use SkyTrak+ outdoors with a mat. SkyTrak+ performs better with direct sunlight than the current SkyTrak.

For setup, I'm hitting off a mat in my garage and I use the same balls for warm-up and playing (bought a couple dozen titleist -prov1x balls for the garage as that's what i play with)

 

Basically, I'll warm up using the skytrak app as I prefer it's interface because it gives me launch/spin/ball speed/clubhead speed/carry & roll distances etc. When I quit and launch TGC2019 and load up it's Driving Range feature (though this carries over into TGC2019 gameplay as well) i notice that I usually get lower spin, higher ball speed, higher clubhead speed, and longer carry. I always chalked it up to TGC wanting me to feel better about my performance. 😉 I noticed that the simulated temperature of the skytrak range and the course i was playing in TGC were the same, no wind, etc. as close to the same conditions as I could get.

 

This is a pretty consistent observation over several years of using both skytrak and TGC2019. They were closer in how they measured a year or two ago, but at some point there was a big skytrak app update which reduced my skytrak numbers but did not change my TGC numbers.

 

There have been days where i was confused and switched between the skytrak app and TGC and all the numbers would be 'normal' in skytrak and remained 'enhanced' in TGC.

No decisions have been made on future improvements. i'm optimistic we can add more club data, but nothing is certain so there's no way to make a decision. That said, SkyTrak is not looking to nickel and dime everyone on a feature set. That's just wrong.

 

Honestly, 95% of golfers will do just fine with face-path and optimizer. i firmly believe the quantity of metrics a device outputs to be an incredibly useless benefit to users. Measuring what matters is most important and that is a prioritized list depending on where you are in your golf skill.

I play tp5 on the course but on my original skytrak the TP5 pix balls work best by far. greatly cutting down on misreads. the skytrak plus must have much better cameras?

From everyone’s experience, what is the best mat to use with the skytrak? Going to preorder the plus but wanted opinions on the best mat.

Could you please elaborate on how Skytrak+ works with foam balls?  

I’d love to see a simulator/launch monitor pair that works well with foam balls, but getting accurate data would take some special handling.

Damn thing doesn't connect to the android app. So far junk because the app won't even discover the unit, even after I connect the mobile device to the Skytrak plus WiFi.
