2024 St Andrews - AIG Women's Open

Looking to book a summer trip to St Andrews in 2024.  I just noticed the AIG womens Open is at St. Andrews next year, but I don't think the dates have been announced.  Anyone with some inside knowledge know what's up?  Also, does that limit the tee time before the event?

The tournament is usually early August, so depending on when you decide to go there will be some restrictions. The closer to the event, there’s a good chance you will be playing off mats. I would advise planning your trip after the event, or very early summer.

Along with the Links trophy was great to watch 10 days ago too.

 

For The Open last year it was mats all winter and annoyingly so before the event too. It was very busy until the event but the Old Course was closed I think a month before The Open and doubt they will do that long for the women. The building round the course was giant and started in March for July, the mens is obviously a bigger event than the women's but there will be a lot of stuff I assume with women's golf being sooo good right now. 

 

Thanks for the heads up I will certainly head down to watch that next year!

 

I can ask my friend who is a member of the New Club if he has been told anything for next year.

UPDATE : dates have been announced. Aug 21 to 25, 2024. Thought I would close the loop here for others making plans.

Yes, it's just been announced from 21-25th August 2024.  Practice day on 21st, then the 3 days of competition.

I have a 3 bed flat and a 3 bed house in St Andrews for rental during that time so have been waiting for these dates to be announced.

I've been told by people in the area to expect Old Course to require matts starting ~ 1 month before. I have tow rounds on the old course the first week of June and am told that they won't be requiring matts. FYI, for anyone looking into a summer trip there.

Wouldn’t want to play TOC on mats - not the golfing experience you really want.

Keeping in mind that our experience last year probably means nothing for next year as it will likely be dictated by course conditions, when we played TOC in June, a few days before they closed it to complete prep for The Open Championship, there was only 1 hole with mats - #2, IIRC - plus a couple areas of long grass that were roped off.
