Rain gear

I’ve got a tourney coming up soon and they’re expecting rain. What’s the best way to dress and be prepared?

Rain gloves are a must

From experience just yesterday this is how I combatted playing in the rain, it was light to medium drizzle with the odd bit of fat rain, very humid.. played 36 holes had a buggy for 18, and walked 18 (when it started to to rain)

 

FJ waterproof bucket hat

 

FJ Wet Weather gloves (had to wear both gloves as the grips were a bit greasy even in the drizzle)

 

Under Armour Storm Revo Jacket. To be fair the jacket is fantastic, and kept me bone dry but I was too hot, as it was very humid, and I would have been better off with my Hydro Lite FJ jacket, as it is lighter and more of a ''summer'' waterproof jacket. That said even though I was hot and sweating the jacket wasn't wet inside, so it breathed extremely well.

 

Unfortunately, as per the weather forecast, it didn't forecast rain until later in the day so I didn't wear any wet weather trousers which was a big mistake, I would have worn Footjoy Hydro Light Trousers, which are very comfortable and very waterproof

 

I wore some Jordan 12s which combatted the wet very well. until I went in ankle-high rough then my feet got wet as it went through the laces.

 

as for Towels which I think are really important:

 

I had 2 towels on my bag, a frogger amphibian: which the concept became redundant after wetting the inside the night before, ended up with a completely wet town inside and out. should be okay next time when I can keep the inside dry and let the outside get wet.

The other towel was a Titleist player's towel which kept dry on one side so used that a lot.

 

I would have used an umbrella but forgot it.

Avoid cotton based fabrics, as they will absorb water, and, retain wetness. Hydrophobic fabrics are the way to go from head to toe, including underwear/base layer. Rain jacket/pull over on top, rain pants (with pants, or shorts underneath depending on the temperature, and, whether you run hot or cold) - if it is light rain, you might be able to get by with water resistant pants/short depending on the weather conditions. Rain hat, and, waterproof shoes. 

 

If you use a push cart, an umbrella is great to keep the rain off of you, and, allow your outer layer to avoid getting over saturated. If your outer layer gets saturated, it becomes less breathable, which, will lead to wetting out.

Waterproof bucket hats are awesome in the rain, stops the water down the back of the neck.

the FJ bucket hat is great, but I bought a large due to thinking they come up big, it was a little snug, but I've had my hair cut since, and now it fits nicely

100% on these.  I find they actually get grippier the more they get wet.
