Armlock Grip on Regular Length Putter

Can anyone out there tell me what would be the benefit of putting an armlock-length grip on a standard length blade putter. Almost how Rickie's Jailbird has the long grip. Does anyone game a putter that is a normal blade length with armlock grip? Let me know!!

I believe that most that use a longer grip also use a longer shafted putter.  Although not necessarily arm-lock length.  It allows some counter-weighting without adding much actual extra weight as you would get by simply adding a counter-weight to a regular length putter.  It also allows a greater variety of hand positions for those that use an alternate grip style.  I normally use a 35" putter with a standard grip.  Lately I've experimented with extending the length to 38" and using a 17" long grip.  I did this to accommodate a grip change that I'm trying out.  Results so far are promising.

His putter is 36” and he grips down a bit. I set one up the same way. My regular length is 33.5”
