Any Star Gazers, a Question?

Just starting to get into a bit of astronomy.  Jupiter is very ripe for the picking right now in my neck of the woods, so I've been observing it quite often lately.  I've noticed some kind of object just to the left of Jupiter beyond the moons.  I imagine that I have a pretty crappy telescope (Solomark 70x700) and was wondering if anyone can tell me what that thing is?  Just a very dimly lit blob as far as I can tell.

Neptune is close to Jupiter at this time, but would probably look like a point, and not a smudge. 

 

The Pleiades star cluster (M45) is nearby. Should look like multiple points of light in a good telescope, but might be a blur otherwise. 

 

The Squid galaxy (M77) and Phantom galaxy (M74) are close. Both would probably look like a smudge.

Haha. Saw this post and was like. I’d imagine A69 might qualify as a “star gazer”! 😊

Thanks for your response.  Didn't make the connection to your thread.  Duh!   Anyway, have you seen the object I'm talking about?  It's maybe 1 degree to the left of Jupiter and just a tiny bit lower in the horizon.  BTW, love your thread now that I know it isn't about "Office Space."

Unfortunately I haven't had the time to dig out my telescope. Hopefully later this week. It's probably M77.

Looked at some stock pictures and it could be M77.  Of course, the image in my telescope shows slightly less detail than the pictures from the Hubble.  Thanks again.
