Best course near PDX Portland Airport

Going with a group of friends to play Bandon summer of 2024. Has a free afternoon before flight near Portland Airport. One round, best course to play. Thanks!

Heron Lakes.  You could drive to play Camas as well.

pretty close, prob within 30 mins of airport. Can be in either direction, if there is a real great course up to an hour away either direction, I'd consider.
 

Have to drive from Bandon (leave there at 7am) arrive at airport, drop off two friends at 12pm and then me and another have a red eye leaving at 11pm.

We flew into Portland. Played Ghost Creek at Pumpkin Ridge before driving down to Bandon. Glad we did. I had my first and only hole in one at Ghost Creek . Its worth playing, although not at the same level as the Bandon courses

You do not want to play Pumpkin Ridge and then need to get to the airport.  It is out the 26 west of Portland and traffic into Portland from Hillsboro/other is not smooth at all.  It is 45 min on a perfect day to PDX.

 

This would not be a recommended option.  But it is one of the best courses in the area.  Just know the time it will take.

 

Unless you can get on a private in Portland - you have 2 options - Heron or maybe Camas.  The other options are not very good (Rose City, etc)

heron lakes great blue is a nice course

 

stone creek is a decent sleeper out in Oregon city that does t get enough attention IMO front side pretty blah but back side is much tougher

 

OGA in woodburn is a good one but that’s starting to get a little out there.

+1 for Pumpkin, Heron Lakes will have 5+ hour rounds.

The best is Edgewater if you have any kind of access.

Go to Pumpkin! Tiger won a US AM there, the Women's US Open was there, LIV was there in '23 🙂

Missed that bit. Either way, the promo I referenced renews throughout the year. I’ll speculate it won't be offered in peak summer. But, otherwise no harm in sharing the URL whenever Pumpkin chats pop up — underpar only hosts a few courses so it’ll get you to the current offer with a click or two whenever that is.
