New LAB DF 3 Putter Coming??

Believe me I've tried, but their email response times are pretty delayed and they've never picked up the phone when trying to call. So I'm hoping to get some intel from WRX'ers who have tried this before or inquired about it before.

For a putter like JT poston or brandt snedecker with handsy strokes its not a good option perhaps.  These need to be swung more like a pendulum controlled by the shoulders.  I've decided to use the tour tempo and tpm devices for the 1st time regularly to keep myself in rhythm and not using the hands with a LAB.  Previously I always had quite a bit of wrist movement and acceleration in my stroke.  

100% learning to get out of the way of this putter and let it do its thing is a process. Took me a little over a week, and trying the thumbs off technique to get it going. You have to be patient when you first get it cause you are subconsciously gonna f*** with it and it wont work out. Most of my misses now are down to reading greens or accidentally messing with the putter instead of just rocking my shoulders.

The difference in weight between the Press 2 1.5 (59g) and Press Pistol 2 (58g) is 1 gram, but looking at https://labgolf.com/repairrefurbish/ There is a $75 difference to have LAB put in a new style of grip ($125) vs stay with current style ($50) so maybe there's something there. Reaching out to LAB as I might be considering the same grip change. Will report back

Wow, super quick response back from them! Here's what L.A.B. said:
It’s actually not the weight so much is where the weight is in the grip. I would make the switch, and if you feel the putter wiggling on you at all, send it back to be re-balanced. The amount of torque added is fairly minimal and imperceptible to most.

I was on the putting green the other day and saw a dude with a DF3. We chatted a bit and he let me roll it a couple of times. Feels a lot like the Mezz (for better or worse), and maybe a touch less "L.A.B. Magic" than the DF2.1 (my current gamer). I also found the little "wings" on the sides of the face to be slightly distracting during the stroke, although I'm sure I would get used to it in time. The ball pickup is cute, although I've gotten adept at using the back of the DF2.1 to snatch up balls, so I'm not sure how much of a selling point that is.

I spoke to the guys at LAB yesterday and they are probably going to be getting the DF3 out in the next week or two. I just received my DF2.1 and the Mezz1 Max is in production. 

 

All I can say, is I absolutely love the DF2.1. I am seeing exactly what others have said in this thread that I immediately notice that I am able to hit my intended start line more often. 

 

For the DF3, I am getting counterbalanced at 40” and they are installing a wrist lock grip (that I sent them) so that it’s in balance with that grip. It’s going to be interesting to see which LAB putter will go in my primary bag this year. Any bets?

I spoke to the guys at LAB yesterday. They put a rush order on the DF3’s for the review. My Mezz 1 Max shouldn’t be too far behind. Honestly, just from putting on my green at home I think the 2.1 is going to be really tough to beat. It really is the best putter I have ever tested. I am always shocked if I hit a putt that’s not rolling true end-over-end.

I rolled the DF3 for a few minutes and it feels markedly different than the 2.1. Seems closer to the Mezz. 
 

My 2.1 is the safest club in my bag. I don’t care what it looks like. It’s money for me. I doubt I’m the intended audience for the 3, as I love the 2.1 as is and want the most out of it.

Actually, I got a message today that my Mezz1 Max has already shipped. The DF3’s should be in production. I had to ship them a wrist lock grip and it’s supposed to arrive tomorrow. He told me that was good timing. So those should be in production this week and probably shipped sometime next week.

I was just notified my Mezz1 Max has been shipped. Should be here on Friday. I have been putting with the DF2.1 for the past couple weeks on my home putting green and it’s really amazing. it’s going to be tough to beat that putter, no doubt.

I’d be interested in your thoughts when you get your Mezz, a putter pretty much designed specifically to overcome the looks of the DF2.1. If you’ve never used the 2.1, you would never know what you’re missing out on. I don’t find them similar. They feel much closer to a big brand mallet for my taste.
