Not to be that guy, but I'd be intrigued to see a club where the face angle can change while being dragged slowly yet the logo on the grip remains static and not subject to the same rotation.

It's a bit off to try to explain dynamic movements of the club head & face by talking about what those components may do when handled in a specific way while basically at rest. Transition tempo, swing speed, shaft flex, and kick points would all combine have an effect on what the club face looks like at the instant of impact. There's also the matter of Rate of Closure, as already mentioned by others, determining where the face would be at impact relative to the overall result or would need to be for a desired result based on a player's swing tendencies.

Golf is fully controlled by the laws of physics, with the club and ball subject to many dynamic forces throughout the swing and especially at impact. Some of what's being discussed here is way too simplified for that reality.

What?? No.

Go back and look at the very video that you posted, and precisely where you set the video to start, and look at how the back of Eric's gloved hand goes from pointing to the side to facing the sky as he moves the handle forward. THAT is how the club face "opens" when you push your hands forward -- by manipulating the shaft with hand/arm rotation, and NOT by just moving the handle forward.

No. I'm rotating the club around a horizontal axis. From this view, the butt of the club would trace a circle (or technically from a face-on view that's at the level of the ground.)

Notice that my watch doesn't really change the direction it's facing, either.
