Driving from Buffalo to Manhattan in the fall

My wife and I are driving from Buffalo to Manhattan in September and would like to play a few rounds of golf. We're not too worried about cost and don't neccesarily need to take the most direct route. I am just looking for some recommendations for 2 or 3 rounds to play on the way through.

En-Joie, Conklin's Players Club and The Links at Hiawatha Landing in the general Binghamton area are solid courses.

Here's a trip that is a pretty direct route from Buffalo to NYC and gives you five options for places to play on the drive.

1. If you want to take a break near the start of the trip play Ravenwood in Victor, NY (East of Rochester, about 90 minutes from Buffalo.

2. If you want to drive further to start the trip, play Conklin Players Club just North of Binghamton. Links at Hiawatha (mentioned by Looper above) is a good alternate, but takes you a bit out of the way.

3. In the Catskills, play Sullivan County Golf Club in Liberty. It's a nine hole course with 18 sets of tees that gives you 18 "different" holes. You can play 9 or 18. It's operated by Tom Coyne the golf author. It's very reasonably priced. The Course website lists some good lodging options if you want to stay in that area overnight. As an alternate, if it's open, play Resorts World Catskills in Monticello. It's a new course by Rees Jones on what used to be the Concord Resort. They have a hotel and Casino there if you want to stay over.

4. Play Rivervale Country Club in Rivervale, NJ. It's one of the best public access courses in the suburbs north of NYC. It's a "Golden Age" course designed by Orrin Smith, an asscoiate of Donald Ross.

5. In the Bronx, play Van Cortland Park, the oldest municipal course in the U.S. As an alternative, play Ferry Point (now operated by Bally's. It's a good course, but expensive.
