Need 3 Wood help

Hello, my current 3w is a stealth OG w Tour ad xc-7s. I’m thinking with how much it’s spinning I might be losing yardage, not sure though need some advice. As for flex of the shaft I think my speed is to quick for a S flex but idk, I’ve also done a lot of speed training since I’ve got this club.

The video may work for others but it won’t let me play it

“Shafts don’t spin” - sorry couldn’t resist. With that being said, more info is needed to help u out. Were u fit for this setup? Have u had success with other fwy heads or shafts in past? If the shaft is a bad fit for u, then it could be a simple shaft change. The video u posted does not play/show anything btw. If your spin is under 3500 rpm it’s not the spin.

Just replied above with video. I was not fit for this setup but I do hit it well. I do like the TM deep faces.

Is that pretty average to have 4000+ on spin? If so, yea that's quite a bit with a 3 wood and you may be leaving some on the table. I'd get a fitting though before I just start throwing shafts in. Might need to move to a lower spinning head or less loft or a combo of all 3. Hard to tell until you really get deep into.

Looks like you’re almost 7 degrees down with a 3-wood. Could be adding a little too much to your spin loft.

Yeah 4500 is average. I tried the Darkspeed Ls but it just launched to low for me as I need it to reach par 5s.

What’s the ideal spin loft #?

You’ve got some speed with 156 ball speed so I’d probably want a couple degrees below the static loft of your club.

Nice! Spin dropped alot which is good but didn’t go too low. I’ll let the swing experts make technique suggestions to you, but I think thats a decent target for spin. Cheers

This. Also, you're hitting it off the deck, so reality is you probably want 3,500 or so spin....with the screenshot showing -3 attack angle spin is 3,000 (247 carry, 275 total). That's not what you want coming into a green.

FWIW, if we're talking about the TM photo, italics for a measurement (in this case, spin) means it's not being directly measured and the algorithm is inferring that amount.  Might be right; might be hilariously off.  I don't know the error bars.

To the OP, and you weren't fit to this 3W, but if you like the club, just not the spin, why not try the Stealth Plus with everything else the same?

I'm paying more attention to these threads now, as I seem to have dented the face of my Rogue ST TD-T.  Grrrr.  Guess I get to compare Callaway's CS to Ping's excellent CS.

What’s ideal? Higher launch?

I would but the head is bonded on. Isnt it hard to remove the head?

No, but let a golf shop do it.  For graphite shafts, you're going to want a shaft puller, and practice.  OTOH, I've watched a guy do it with a heat gun and by hand, flawlessly.  I am not that guy.

IIRC, you were wondering whether the flex might be wrong now too, after lessons.  Sounds like a brief fitting session might be in order.  Assuming you even want to stay in a 3W.  4W/7W seems to be trendy these days.

I never gamed gamed a 3wood until a couple months ago because I was hitting it 225 carry or so and was fed up with so I hit the gym lol. I just wanna hit par 5s in two haha, one career eagle.

Bingo.  Just hitting down on it too much.  Should be closer to 2*

A quick fix, could be to move ball position slightly forward and see how it goes.  That is a low spin head and in theory a low launch, low spin shaft.

Fair.  So, if you're shooting at a green, it's helpful if the ball stops on it after it hits.  There's a range here:  dried-out links course is stopping nothing, but will generally let you land it in front of the green, bounce and roll eventually onto it, where it will stop somewhere.  To the soft target-golf green where with a sufficient landing angle (45°?  40°??) and enough back spin, even a 3W approach can stop on the green.  Which is why people are asking about spin.

Of course, you have to hit the green to be worried about stopping the ball on it, and with the club 43" long, and the green 240-260 yds away, this is easier said than done for most.

Sorry, not sure what you're asking. I've been told by a few fitters (And I agree) 3W is the hardest club to fit for, as it's the only club you want to do 2 completely different things. Off the tee you want to bomb it, but into a green you want spin. It's one reason why pros keep 3Ws forever vs other clubs.

I guess I gotta get fitted. Just hate how crazy fitting prices are.
