What Vokey Bouce would this be closest too?

Recommended Posts

Vokey D/M type. Of course the 58 D has 12 degrees of bounce and the M has 8.

Another interesting approach might be the new Ping s159 in (potentially) their H grind. They have a pretty straight leading edge as well, as do Vokey’s and your TM. The s159’s are the real deal and IMO the best series of wedges produced by Ping. Their wedge fitting app also seems well educated.

Both the Vokey M and D grind are your crescent sole shapes were they cater more to the player who likes to open the face more and play greater variety of shots. Since they are 8* and 12* of bounce you would simply have to take a 60-12D and make it 2* strong to get to 58-10D or do the opposite with a 56-08 M. The shape of this sole looks to be a bit more standard with some simple heel relief so unless you play a crazy variety of open face shots I think the 58-10S is your best bet. Still very versatile with a bit of relief towards the back of the sole and it should play very similar to your current wedge without any bending of loft. Its designed more around Square face shots but opens up well.

I’ve checked out Wedge Works and I think a 60D bent to 58 with some smoothing grind would be ideal. I find the M and D a little sharp along the sole bounce.

Sounds like a good plan. I wasn’t sure if you were gonna go to your local store and get one but if you’re doing Wedge Works then you should be able find something great. If you’re doing Wedge-Works though you must love that Taylormade grind because its not too cheap. Best way to get what you want though.

There was a thread a week or two ago about some players on very tight lies (essentially dirt) and rounded leading edges, which yours certainly is.

Callaway makes several grinds with leading edges similar to yours, but the overall sole layout is a bit different. The other solution discussed there is to use a belt sander and DIY the edge a bit at a time until it matches your desired shape.
