G430 10k Loft question…….need feedback.

I need some feedback from all the WRXs Golfers. I was fitted into a G430 10k at 9 degrees loft turned up to 9.5 degrees. What would be the difference in ordering a 10.5 degree driver and loft it down to 9.5? I understand lofting down opens the face a bit and lofting up closes the face a bit. A bit open sounds more appealing to me. Would spin rate or launch angle be different on the two drivers lofted the same? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

You have the loft adjustment to face angle correct. Down in loft opens the face. Up in loft closes the face. If your fitter put you up in loft, your 9° head would “play” as a 10° head as Ping only offer 1° and 1.5° adjustments. I would suspect he put you up 1° in loft which closes the face 1° to increase spin slightly and combat a fade ball flight. If you don’t like the specs including the closed face that you were fit into, I would suggest you try the 10.5° at standard loft. The spin difference from a 10° to 10.5° will be marginal but the face angle will be square.

Thanks for the response. I am currently in a 9 degree G430 LST with the Tour 2.0 stiff shaft. I have been playing that lofted up to 10 degrees. Swing speed is around 95 mph. When I am swinging well this driver is good. But, I feel like it makes me pay when my swing and tempo is not on. My thought was the G430 10k would still give me decent spin numbers but much more forgiveness.

I was concerned swing speed and distance would be less. During the fitting I tried the Alta CB 55 in Stiff. This shaft is a bit longer than the 2.0 and lighter. The 10k was a 9 degree lofted up to 10 degrees. My swing speed did not go down. Swing speed for most shots in the 95-97 mph range with 14-16 degree launch angle. One swing was over 100 mph. Thats a goal to get back to this year! Spin rate averaged 2500. My distance was just as good as my LST. That shaft seemed like it was a bit easier to get square than the 2.0. My normal ball flight is a draw. My miss is a hook left or push right when I get stuck. I am not fading anything.

I am sold on giving the 10k a shot. Is there anything here that should push me more to then 9 or 10.5 driver?

When I put the Alta Shaft in my LST results were similar for both drivers. But, I know 10k is going to give me more help on the bad days.

If your miss is Left, the 10.5 turned down might help.

Every 9 degree head turned up causes me to hit it uncomfortably left, but the 10 (or 10.5) turned down allows me to release without fear of going left. I actually gained a few yards in addition to accuracy. No impact on backspin.
