Left Wrist pain - Shaft flex vs grip size

Hi everyone,

So I recently changed my driver, and ever since I felt some pain in my left wrist and stiffness in my left forearm.

I moved from a TSR2 driver with Ventus Velocore Red 6X shaft standard grip to G430 10k with Aldila Rogue 70S. I initially wanted the Rogue 60X but it’s not produced anymore. There’s only 5gr differences between the 70S and 60X so I thought both shaft would be similar as I really loved the shaft/head combo.
It’s 7 grams heavier than my previous shaft.

I also moved to a midsize grip to match my irons.

I’m trying to identify where the pain is coming from, I suspect the driver shaft but I wonder if it could also be the larger grip size.

Have any of you experienced similar pain after a gear change ?

Are driver lengths and weights the same. I also think the shaft is the prime suspect here. Are you going after it a little harder with the Ping? The larger grip restricts movement.

Length are the same, I’m not sure about the head weight, I assume the G430 10k might be a bit heavier as it is a bigger more forgiving head.

Yeah I’m swinging a bit (or a lot…) harder with it The G430 10k is so incredibly forgiving that I can swing as hard as I can and it would always stay in play. Could be that my body isn’t adjusted to the new gear or « intensity » yet. Probably a combination of both

You changed to a mid-sized grip. Are your fingers close enough together on the left palm? Your last three should just touch or at least come very close; but no mashing.

Chances are, the midsized grip is a little unfamiliar to you and your grip has changed. The driver itself is not the problem; you didn't make any changes that would cause pain other than your grip size change.

For reference, My driver is G5 weighted and my wrist is fine. I actually injured my wrist on a bad iron swing but it has since recovered and the driver does not make it come back.

I'm pretty confident the driver itself is not your problem.
