Shaft lean and bounce

Was playing around with Gcquad stickers and realized I had a about 9-12 degrees shaft lean on wedges.

 

can I basically assume I need at least that amount of effective bounce on my wedges to not get leading edge stuck if I like the shaft lean and don’t want to make big changes? (Home course has very firm turf) previously got some lower bounce wedges thinking to go along with the turf, but it gets diggy.

so something like vokey f grind into the sand wedge, 46.10f 50.12f 54.14f? Having a hard time figuring out lob wedge though, struggled with m grind lob wedge bouncing up on the firm turf too much occasionally (albeit I definitely have faulty technique being a 7 handicap)

You're on the right track. Personally, I would add 1* of loft to raise the leading edge slight. This will help with the leading edge from digging. If you are still having issues time to change the wedge.

Yes to your question and yeah on those F grinds.  If in doubt, always err towards a little more bounce when you have experienced snagging in the turf.  It will make the sole more forgiving in most turf conditions outside of hard pan....and even then they can still be played well with decent technique

What you should look at is not shaft lean, but dynamic loft

 

example, the head is 52/10

 

if dynamic loft is 50 you got 8 left of bounce

 

so, shaft lean does matter, but the product of it all who includes forward shaft bending, ends up as dynamic loft

Oh sorry I should have specified, (and I probably assumed wrong, I assumed shaft lean= dynamic loft)

 

I got the 9-12 number from  the loft number that Gcquad has on bottom right corner, so I assume that’s dynamic loft and then yea I almost have no bounce leftover accounting for dynamic loft with old wedges

Dynamic loft = loft at impact.
Just think of what happens when we bend lofts stronger or weaker.
If we go weaker, we add bounce 1:1 vs loft
If we go stronger, we remove bounce 1:1 vs loft
So, its simply static vs dynamic loft who will tell if we add or reduce bounce and how much.

Shaft lean and shaft bending combined is how we get there in this case.
