Launch Monitor numbers

Do you pay attention to all of them?

Just went to the golf shop and hit a few drivers.
Everyone talks about SS, inital launch, and backspin but do you also look at swing path and ball speed, and whether the shot hooked or sliced or was pulled or pushed?

What do these other numbers tell you about the fitting?

I was hitting a J33P with an Accra T70 M4 that seemed to give me pretty good ball speed in relation to my SS but I was pulling it pretty bad. Some swings had me missing 50-60 yards left of target according to the LM.

Funny thing is I don't think I've missed a fairway by 50-60 yards in about 7 years.

I'm not a big fan of indoor LM.

I think it's a Vector but I'm not sure.

I'll probably just buy it for $79 and try it. They have a 7 day full refund policy on used stuff.

Now the question is do I buy the J33P with the Accra or the V2? Hmmmm........

J33P is pretty low hitting with a small sweetspot....a low capper might really like it.

 

V2 is a good shaft....but it is no Accra.

If the unit is not broken...The Launch monitor won't lie, the operator might.

 

Don't expect the numbers are accurate, they are all estimate from Algorithm calculation in the software.

 

Fitting is an art to the fitter individual taste, motivation and knowledge.

 

Most operator didn't realise that they are comparing it with Tour player and course condition. Being realistic to fit customer according to their individual skill is really an art to itself. I don't see that i can fit customer properly less than 1hr, includes discussing the options, swing profile, course condition, ect, etc, etc. The other factor is the fitter knowledge about the shaft profile they carry in their store without being bias to what he is gonna sell or dump. Trust me, it's a rare breed! :good:

 

Big name fancy store are a big profit driven motivation by this fitter due to bonus plans they'll make to sell a certain $ numbers.

 

IMO, The big success for me is if I could go play with them after LM fitting. I can see a lot during the round on which numbers is right and wrong.....and WHY! :cheesy:

 

This playing fitting will open more eyes on what i have to do and what i have to say to customers.

 

Definitely a must to find the right balance % of equipments or swing fault which will give the best result at the end of the day.

It went like this-

Me- "hey can I hit a few on the LM?"

Sales guy "yeah, just make sure this line on the ball is perpendicular to your target line"

 

He walked off.

I hit about 15-20 balls by myself. No feedback. No suggestion. No recommendation.

Not that I needed or wanted any but I just don't believe some of the numbers I see on an indoor LM. I've killed a driver on the LM before and find it mediocre on the course.

Next time I'm in the Bay area, Joe, you can give me a "playing fitting" at the Olympic Club! Or maybe just Lincoln. :good:

Yeah, I honestly don't put a lot of thought into the clubs I try although I should.

I played the J33R 460 for a while. I currently have an R510 TP with stock 757 and a Nike SQ Tour with the Fuji e360. I think I liked the NV65 better in that club though.

Is the J33P a lot tougher than the J33R or the R510TP?
