How often do you wipe/clean your irons/wedges?

How are you cleaning the grips? Wet rage, wet rage with soapy water, something else?

I use dish soap, a soft tooth brush. And then a little wet rage rinse. Then I dry rage them.

I clean mine after every shot, I have 2 towels on my bag, one for dirty, and one for super dirty... I also have a brush, and fill spit on the face of the club if i have to to get it clean =)

 

Also take head covers off woods, make shot, wipe clean, and put head cover back on.... i can't stand it when people let their woods bag around in the bag for 18 holes! It's a sin!!!

I used to clean them with a wire brush. I'd soak the grips in a bucket of hot water, scrub them with a wire brush as I rotate the club in my hand, rinse them off, then repeat until they were clean. Then I'd scrub/wipe them dry with a clean towel.

 

Now I've found an easier way. When I do laundry, I throw in my two club/grip towels. After the wash is done, I throw everything in the dryer, except for the towels. Fresh out of the washing machine, the towels are PERFECTLY wet to scrub grips. I probably do this once a week.

 

As for the heads, I fill my bucket full of hot water, put the clubs in for about 5 min, then start pulling them out and wiping them clean. A soft bristle brush is sometimes needed for the grooves, but not really. After I wipe the head dry, I tend to take the towel over the shaft to get it shiny as well.

Well, due to my laziness, I don't mess with my brush unless I just finished at the range and the clubs are REALLY dirty because the brush is tucked in the bag somewhere. Due to my slight case of OCD, however, I do clean them after every single shot with the towel, and if the grooves are REALLY bad, I'll just go ahead and use my fingernail. A little disgusting for some, I know, but I've learned to get the priorities of my life straight... Cleanliness of the clubs over cleanliness of the hands..

Nothing says clean like a good ol' hork brought up from deep within onto the middle of the club face, scrub with brush and dry with towel.

I wipe mine clean after every shot, even when I'm at the range.

I clean mine after every single shot or after a couple of balls hit with that club on the range.

After every shot is a quick towel and the old tee in the groove trick and immediately after the round when I get home the irons, wedges and woods all to the kitchen sink for warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush.

 

The range at the course has a few of those green bucket things with the brushes inside - yeah I hit those after every other shot.

 

1) mainly because I'm anal and can't stand to even look at a dirty club or even think about hitting a ball with it

2) as a parent, I always make it a point to let the two kids know what I'm doing "a man's gotta take care of his equipment" not just golf clubs, but anything worth anything shouold be taken care of and not neglected. maybe one day it will sink in, lol

 

edit - I never thought about cleaning the grips, but after reading this, they are on my checklist

I don't think wiping a club after each shot counts as cleaning (unless you happen to carry a bucket of water around with you).

 

I will wash and dry my rusty wedges off after each round to stop them from rusting (go figure), and the rest of the clubs will get washed every three or four rounds minimum. After a muddy round I will for sure wash them.

I Clean them after ever shot, enough to get the grooves clean. When i get get home i give a quick shot with a pressure washer. Your grooves will never be cleaner. :clapping:

i'm an "after every shot" type of guy myself. for irons i have that nylon bristle brush to get into the grooves to take out dirt or grass.

After every shot pretty much, sometimes if there isnt visible dirt I dont, but otherwise I do

I wipe mine off with a wet towel after every shot when I'm playing. Once weekly I'll give them a more thorough scrub and also wash the grips so they stay soft and retain their tackiness.
