For the 907 D2 Driver from Titleist....

What is the LOWEST spinning shaft available?
Hey all!

Anyone know what the LOWEST spinning shaft is that is available from the 2008 Titleist shaft Matrix? I need to know to reduce a metric Word not allowedload of spin on a 907 D2 Driver!

I am interrested in the OEM options available... NOT anything that is aftermarket and not available on the current shaft matrix... that means that anything that is too exotic such as an OZIK, etc., is not in consideration for this question!!!

PS- I forot to mention that weight is sort of sensitive... I can't go too heavy! I realize that I am asking for quite a bit here!

- no up-charge for any of these shafts.

 

any X-flex will be heavier and will help to drop your spin... but, you also need to look for a shaft with a high kick point that will produce a lower trajectory. It could also just be a quick look at your swing plane, maybe your just too steep.

Whiteboard, and the 73 will spin more than the 83. Both will spin a shitload less than the V2. Still might not be enough.

The UST Proforce V2 shaft has a low launch and torque, but the spin on this club is more in the head technology than the shaft itself, but definitely going to a lower launching shaft will help you get some roll.

I would say V2...if price is a factor the 75 or 85 gram model, Pro Launch red would be another one I would recomend. If your willing to spend the money, the Diamana Whiteboard will REALLY lower your spin and give you some great feel! Go with the 83 gram version in that one for maximun spin reduction. I have hit a number of different shafts in that head and to be honest the two that I have found to work the best are the Whiteboard and a Matrix F7M2 LTD. Aside from price though, the biggest difference bewteen the Diamana and V2 is going to be feel, the Diamana has a much better feel, much smoother! Hope this helps

Need to answer a few vital questions first.............

What does your driver ball flight look like? hi....low?

what kind of side spin? do you hook, draw, slice, fade?

what is you driver ball speed? or how far do you CARRY your driver? not roll...carry.

 

that will help with my recommendation.

Titleist 907 D2 8.5* loft, Aldila VS Proto 65-X.

 

Ball flight.... High! Noooo problem getting it in the air!

(8.5* loft, I would guess at least 15*+ launch angle!)

I tend to hit it relatively straight, but if there is a miss, it is a slight pull or a mild hook. Never a slice!

Ball speed is 155 mph. (measured last year.)

 

I use an X flex in the stock shafts because some of the stock stiff flexes are too weak. The stock X flex shafts from Titleist are more controlable and "tighter", but not too tight.

I also have a titleist d2 8.5. I used to use a diamana blueboard 93x and it would spin like crazy. The whiteboard did as well. The v2 was ok but worked great was the ACCRA sc75. Very low torque and high kick point. I was lucky when my fitter played that setup and was able to see a difference immediately. Im sure it works better than his being that Joe built the driver for me. Take a look at that shaft.

If your using an 8.5/VS Proto X setup, even though it is not quite as stout as the V2 or even the Red, it's still not going to kick the ball too awfully high unless your attack angle is maybe a little too steep. If your misses were slices or blocks, that would be easy to fix, but a pull/pull hook probably indicates your coming in steep and "over the top" (which is very common with faster swingers).

 

If your happy with your swing-plane just go to a golf store and try a few different shafts on the launch monitor or take a chance and order the V2 or the Red or you could have someone take a look at your plane on video.
