TIGER WOODS TEE SHOT ON 13

BALL POSSIBLY MOVED AFTER COMING TO REST?

On the 13th tee Tiger used a 3 wood and drove his tee shot into the tree line. The initial camera angle seemed to show the ball at rest within a foot of the base of the tree. When Tiger and his caddie were over the ball, the ball appeared to be further away from the tree thus giving him an opportunity to advance the ball. The television camera shot showed a person standing behind this same tree when the ball came to rest. Is it possible that that person took the liberty of moving the ball? Or is it that I saw it wrong?

Yeah, I'm sure that the gallery, nor the rules officials scattered all over the place were cool with someone giving it the ol' foot wedge for Tiger. It was just a camera angle trick I'm sure. The view right after the tee shot was rather low so that would make the ball look closer to the tree than it really was.

Yeah, it did happen, Tiger found out and missed the 3 footer for birdie.

He was so dissapointed he missed makeable putts on the next 3 holes also... Immelman got lucky

I thought the same thing when I saw that. The initial camera angel made it look like the ball came to rest just short of the tree, with the tree being between the ball and the hole. Then when they showed it again the ball was more to the side of the tree giving him a look at the green. I just figured maybe the ball took another bounce that I couldn't see from that angle. Who knows.

Telephoto lenses sometimes have this effect. They magnify things far away which has the side effect of compressing depth perception. It could be that the original angle had the Ball and Tree in line with one another and therefore compressed the apparent distance between the two.

Seriously though, just wanted to point out that I saw what the OP saw. Then again I'm blind in one eye and can't see out the other!

He used the little known "Augusta Tree Rule". On any Sunday in April a player may move his ball up to 35.25 inches from any tree on the right side of hole 13. Kudos to Tiger for knowing this rule. Oh, had it been a US Open he could have used the "immovable tree rule", but that rule isn't in effect for the Masters.

For what? Making an observation? He wasn't stating it as fact, he was merely pointing out what he thought he observed and even qualified it with, "did I see it wrong?"

Oh and it looked that way to me too. But I think the size of the trees makes it deceiving.
