Winn Grips

Who plays?

I was thinking of getting some Winn grips for my irons.

I was wondering who plays them, what model and their thoughts on the grips.

I play the Winn Excel grips. Oversize on Driver and FW's, mid size on irons. I really like the soft feel they offer but the down side is they tend to wear rather fast.

I use Winn --

 

DVS in everything until the real wedges; then Xi7 from 50 on up. The Xi7 is a firm grip, which gives more direct feel on wedges.

 

For those guys who are torquey and don't want any softness in a grip, I'd suggest something like the Xi7 in their clubs or one of the 2008 grips that are classified as firm.

 

I like them -- cleaning them with rubbing alcohol and water is different.

 

As my grip changes, though, and I become more pressure in my fingers oriented, I may change to the Xi7 in irons with a wrap for a firmer feel.

Currently using G8 oversize and Xi7 oversize for past 2 years. No complaints. Very pleased and no undue wear with my "moderate mileage" of use.

I use the copper PCI's, so far they have been great. I can actually play w/o a glove. The are soft enough yet plenty of grip.

They have been on for 5 rounds with no signs of use. I was concerned the polymer would rub off the cord, but that is not the case.

She is the smart one in the family....

However I think she just likes the fact that they are pink and have the pink ribbon on them!

 

For myself I do like how they feel, but they seem to wear way too fast for me, and all one has to do is play a tournament round in the rain to see why a guy rather stick to a cord or crossline type grip.

I know, she told me she suggested them to you after seeing how you hit the ball.

 

She also told me to let you know, keep at it, you'll be able to move back from the forward tees one day....(whatever that meant...)

Winn have always been my choice of grips.

Driver has DSi

Irons/wedges have PCi black half cords

and my putter has the jumbo AVS grip.

i use winn excel (classic) grips on every club. They are great, very sticky grips but they do wear fast. I would recommend them though.

Just switched to the Xi7s. Had them on wedges all winter for range mat damage-dampening, liked the feel and comfort. And I hate gloves; they stretch out, never fit right, cost too much, and most importantly ruin my great hand tan.

 

Put Xi7s on all irons and wedges, two extra wraps to firm it up a little. Haven't switched the woods yet.

 

Played first time yesterday, liked them very much. My left hand is just as sun burned as my right hand.

I use the Xi7 on my driver and the polymer chord hybrid pci on my 3-6 irons and fairway metals 3, 4 and 5. And my hybrid baffler 2/R and my putter I use the oversize AVS paddle. Have to say these are the tackiest grips I ever used and I used to think the Lamkin tour wraps were tacky these grips give me all control in my swing. Too bad there more expensive ($8.50 for the xi7's and pci's $12.99 for the AVS) than the other companies (golf pride and Lamkin) highly recommend them!

I put the xi7 on my irons with 3 wraps and love them, slighty soft but also firm enough.

i cannot stand them, they feel like crap to me and are just ugly :clapping:

I've played them for over 10 years.

 

That said, I'm trying out Crossline Black this year.
