2 piece balls for "players"

I am looking for any lower handicaps who prefer 2 piece balls over premium 3 piece balls. I am a very high ball hitter and have no problem holding greens w/ 2 piece balls. I love Pinnacle Exception but they are not made any longer. Just want to see if anyone else has a solid 2 piece ball and why they like it. I do not want a "high" launch ball. I seem to spin 3 piece urethane balls too much and lose distance with them. Thanks for your time and feedback.

The e5 is a high launch ball.

 

I'm not a low capper, but I've had the best results with the Big Bertha Red and e6 as far as 2 piece balls go. They do tend to roll a bit on the greens, but not much. The Nike PD Powersoft tested well in the Golf mag test. I've played found ones a few times and they weren't that bad.

while Pinnacle doesn't make the Exception any more, they're still easy to find. i see double dozen packs of Exceptions everywhere for $20-25. i know that Austad's has them. the replacement for the Exception is the Platinum Feel.

 

you might want to try some 3-piece ionomer/surlyn balls, like the Callaway HX-Hot or the Bridgestone e6/e6+--neither of those balls spin much at all. as far as a two-piece ball goes, the Top Flite Freak might be right up your alley.

 

another option, albeit more expensive, is having a driver fitted for your swing and choice of ball. pick a 3-piece or 4-piece urethane ball that has the short game characteristics and perfomance that you like. then have a driver fitted to that ball so you have optimum launch and spin with that ball.

Pinnacle Exception fans will LOVE this! Red packaging, $20. It is a BOMBER with above average spin and is really soft. The trajectory is lower than the Burner TP, and most distance balls, 360 dimples instead of 320-ish. I just tried them and was really surprised...they're a full club longer than most others .........and I've tried them all. There's genuine innovation in it. Not sure if it's "LDP" but it works. Putter was a huge and pleasant surprise too. Feels great. Blows away any 2-piece ball I'VE EVER TRIED.

Dicks still has a ton of exceptions in double dozens for $24 if you are still interested in them. I was thinking of giving them a try as well for the price.

it's not like the good old days where virtually every ball was 2 piece except the tour balls....

 

Even the average joe balls have gone 3 piece now for some makers.

 

If you hit high and have no problems holding greens then try the D2 feel or something... Srixon AD333 isn't bad and neither is the burner... There are some Nike balls like the karma....

 

The problem is you'rell probably hate all of them for the following reasons:

 

1. they're designed for either slow swingers or people who need/want rocks. So you'll only find low compression hard covers or hard cover hard cores...

 

2. e5's flight high...

 

Think you're going to have to settle for a 3 piece midrange ball... If you want a nice cheap but good one get the topflite gamer... Should serve you well and save you money.

I switch between the AD333 and the Z-URS by Srixon. I liked the AD333 when I was playing Ping i3s and Cleveland TA5s, but I haven't played a complete round with my Mizuno MP-32s yet.

 

The AD333s were all right around the greens. Best to bump and run it rather than play flop shots with them though.

Callaway Big Bertha. Poor mans HX Tour right there. They don't spin on short shots but don't run off like a rock either. Good distance, good ball for the cache.
