TM 580xd vs r5 Dual N

I know taylor made puts out new drivers every six months, so is there much difference between the two? Don't want to spend more on a driver that is not as good as its predecessor.

Between the 2, I would save the extra $$$ and get the 580XD. You could always use the extra $ and upgrade the shaft.

The price difference between the R5 and 580xd isn't much at all these days, why not go with the current model? I love my R5 Type N, it's forgiving, straight, long, and fairly inexpensive to boot, which is all i want in a driver.

I've had both and I liked the 580xd better.

I am selling my R5 because i dont like it, used it one round and it is going bye bye.

I would go with the 580xd and upgrade the shaft with the money you would save

I too suggest going with the R580XD. Personally, IMO the R500 series of drivers are classics.

i have the R5 n with nv65, it is more forgiving than the 580xd all over the clubface, both are long with the right shaft,taylor made must think the r5 is better because the r7 425 and 460 both have the same design, ie.. same location of the screws as the r5. compare.

For me I found the 580xd to be more left prone than then the R5TP. At the end of the day I really don't care for either all that much. I've been floating back and forth between a G5 w/ Diamana 63s, 905T w/ V275S, and a Cleveland Ti460 w/ NV65s. Suprisingly the Cleveland has been the longest and most accurate for my game.
