what are your thoughts?

hi everyone,

just ordered the new YS-Q has anybody played this shaft or playing it?

and your thougths please, is it similar to the YS6+?

Just personal preference, but i hated it, not many shafts that i say i really dont like but it just felt dead and just couldnt get on with it... Then again my mate loves it... i suppose you have to wait and see wheather you like it or not!

The YS-Q is the stock shaft with the Adams XTD Pro series which have generated their fair share of buzz, you might want to check out those threads. I have not seen too much as far as ballspeed, launch and spin comparisons but it seems to work as a stock shaft for many. I know the price also probably has a impact on buyers decisions.

Just put the shaft in my Hibore XL Tour driver today! Won't be able to hit outside until this weekend but I will make sure to get back and let you know what I think.

I agree with the above comments. The shaft felt totally dead to me. I was loading it fine and getting a high enough trajectory, but it totally lacked any kind of feel.

I have to agree about the lack of feel in the YS-Q. I had it in a Bobby Jones Workshop Ed. head. It felt like I was hitting knuckleballs. Had it changed out for a DVS and it was like night and day. I am no expert on shafts, but this was the first time I had played a shaft that gave me this feeling (or lack thereof). Someone with different swing characteristics than me, though may feel very differently. My SS is 98, smooth transition.

Found it to be pretty stable and accurate. Not the best feeling shaft in the world though.

Weird, I LOVE the feel of this shaft.

Loads nicely and kicks really hard. But still stays stable when I go after it.

Had a Speeder shaft then went VSProto then played around with the blueboard and I perfer the feel of this shaft.

(although the blue board is pretty awesome as well...I just get better #s with the YSQ.)

The YSQ is one of the few shafts that was able to get my spin down to 2500s...(prolauch red was another...but that shaft felt like crap and launched lower)

For what it's worth, I hated the YS6...felt mushy....but for some reason my swing just clicks with the YSQ.

Currently a 0.8 index and average swing speed is 108mph.

Well played first 9 holes with YS-Q shaft in my Hibore XL Tour and loved it. First drive on hole #1 was the longest drive of my life I would have to say. Played V2 in Hibore before and would have to say that I like the YS-Q better. I dont know if it is because of the $200 price tag and I am making my self like the shaft or what...

I'm having very good luck with the 70gr X-flex YSQ in my fairway wood so decided to load my 4DX with 65gr model; we will see.

I am not a fan real wanted to like this shaft but hated the feal of it was very hard fealing not stiff just hard. I tryed reversing the spline witch normaly takes that fealing away and it still didnt do anything for me. I got to say the number on the launch monitor were good just didnt like the feal.

after tipping it extra .5 this shaft/head combo will be in my bag for a while. gained about 20yrds, straighter(lost extreme fades) and more consistent hit with the extra tipping.

Gandor:

I see from another thread that you tipped it .5" and then you were considering whether to tip it further. Did you stop at .5" or tip it some more? Also, did you say somewhere else that Adams told you that they tipped the shaft .5" on assembly? I had read on several threads that it wasn't tipped at all.

I've got my YSQ pulled and am ready to break out the saw. Thanks.
