B330s vs. Z-URS

Whose played both and which did you prefer

I've decided that the Pro V1x spins too much and is too hard. So I'm thinking about making a permanent switch to one of these pills, anybody compare them head to head? I've done about as much online research as I can, and I think the B330s may be a little longer but the Z-URS may spin more. What say you? BTW, 6.7 Index and 105-110 driver swing speed (depending on how tired I am and how narrow the fairway is).

I've compared them both, and your assumptions are correct. Z-URS felt better IMO also, B330s better performer in the wind. However you can easily make a decision by purchasing a sleeve of both balls and hitting up the course.

I've been comparing golf balls a bit this year. ProV1, ProV1x, B330S, Z-URS, and TM TP LDP Black. I'm down to ProV1, ProV1x, and the TP Black.

You might want to try a sleeve of the '08 Black & Red.

If you found the ProV1x to spin too much for you, I'm not sure either of the two balls you've listed will be what you need. I used to play the B330-S and the Callaway HX.56 pretty exclusively (mostly the latter), until I switched to the Z-URS. I felt that the Z-URS spun less off the driver, about the same in the mid/long irons, and more in the short irons and wedges than either the Callaway and Bridgestone offerings. The Z-UR, on the other hand (as well as the HX.Tour and the Bridgestone B330 Tour) span a good bit less for me than the ProV1x, but as I switched to a low-spin driver head (first hibore), I didn't generate enough spin for the launch to give me good results...at least, that's what I tell myself when I need to feel better about my game. :clapping:

Bridgestone has the best technology of any golf ball manufacturer out their...including Titleist. Even the USGA agrees because they get Bridgestone to make their calibration balls for setting up their robots for testing. Bridgestone balls are the most consistent product available on the market. They buy balls from Bridestone because of their highly superior seamless technology, dimple designs, and consistency in paint and manufacturing techniques.

Played the Z-URS and the 330-S over the last couple of years.

I finally gravitated to the 330-S as a better overall ball for me. I actually find it spins more on partials around the green, it's good in the wind, long, very good feel (although nothing feels like a ProV1). Overall, a great ball that does everything very well. Plus, you can find deals on them.

If too much driver spin is an issue, try the 330.

You might also try the 08 TP Balls and the Tour iX.

I have tried both, like them both as well, like the other posters I think the Bridgestone pays well in the wind. My favorite used ball site no longer carries the ZURS so I bought a sleeve of ZURC and was suprised at the driver distance (only about 5-10 yards but I will take all the help I can get) and short game spin. Noticed on pitch and chips shots I ended up closer to the hole with the "c". Might be a feel thing for me but thought you might like to know, as you might want to try them as well.

The 2007 models, the 330, not the 330s spins more off wedges and irons. Both are better than Srixon, IMO. I wasn't all that impressed by the ZURS, didn't bother trying ZURC. 330 is one of my favorites, but Cally iX and 2008 NOP are strong contenders.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll go with the 'stones for a few rounds. If I like em, I guess I'm done. If not, maybe the srixons or some of the others mentioned (the new Callaway's have my interest, but I don't know if the one that is currently out will have the softer feel I'm wanting). Basically my perfect ball would be soft, long off the tee and some spin, but not so much that I'm sucking everything back.

I agree with the posts above. I would say that something that I have noticed about the Japanese manufacturers is that the balls that they make tend to do everything pretty well whereas, Callaway and Titleist tend to have extreme characteristics in their offerings. You won't go wrong with the ZURS or the B330s. I love the B330s, but it is a little nondescript. It's softer feeling, but not like the Pro V1. It spins, but not like the pro v's.

It is a better wind ball than the pro V1, in my experience. Something I learned about what really mattered to me in evaluating a ball is the feel off the putter. That's why I have gravitated back to the Pro V (and green side performance). The URS feels more spongy and pro v like to me. But in my mind, I might as well just play the Pro V. Some people I know prefer the quality "does everything pretty well" ball. Bridgestone makes great golf balls. It's a softer ball that drives a little more boring and a touch longer than the Pro V and the ZURS. I have never tried the C, but I am a fan of the ZURS.

We are fortunate to have some good choices in golf balls right now.
