low spinning ft-5 driver shaft

I want to try and find a shaft for my 10* ft-5 that spins less. my ss is probably 115+ and i currently have the stock shaft in stiff. has anyone tried a V2 shaft with a ft-5? also should i get an x-stiff?

I would recommend trying the Aldila VS Proto. In my experience (trying many shafts out of the optifit system) it is one of the lowest spinning shafts out there. There are a lot of good shafts though I'm not saying this is the ONLY one but it was the best out of all that I have tried. The torque is pretty high for your SS in that shaft as well. 115+ is usually when people start to look at an X. It may not end up working but I would see if there is a way you can compare stiff vs. X cause that would be the only way to see the differences side by side for you. You should be a little more accurate with the X, and a little lower ball flight but not much. Also, you could try a heavier shaft as well, that helps take some spin off.

To answer your second question...Yes I have tried the V2 in it as well. I have never liked the feel of that shaft myself so I can't tell you it worked for me, but it may for you. It is a very low torque shaft which would probably be good for your SS, can't be too sure of the spin numbers it puts up though.

your swing speed is kind of close to mine (118-121mph) range and i personally don't like the v2, it seems very whippy. and i don't think 115 is borderline x i think that is an easy xstiff shaft. if you're having spin and launch problems (too much spin and too high of launch), then try something heavier with a high kick point. what is the price range that you're looking at?

Try out an Aldila DVS...mid to high launch and low spin..

I have a 60g Stiff in an FT-5 Tour and it is a great combo.

You could handle a 70g X with that swing speed...

I just played my first round with my just delivered FT-5 Tour with a VS Proto 80 Stiff....very low spin. very nice combo. You may want to go X flex but give the VS Proto a good try.

You can change shafts all you want...if you want a true lower spin rate get a 8.5* or 9* depending on what you like to look at as far as face being closed or not.

without post some launch monitor numbers and knowing your swing know body can suggest a shaft for you. we need alot more info

The pros play a shaft that is custom fit for their swing. Without consulting a clubfitter who knows his stuff, its a crapshoot. They make so many shafts because there are many diffierent types of swings. What works best for the guy next to you may be awful for you. My advice would be to get fit, you will save an enormous amount of money in the long run. That said, I am a huge believer in Matrix golf shafts, especially for reducing spin.
