new club or new shaft?

what do you do in this scenario?

I recently picked up a 2007 tour issue Burner (version 2) in a 10.5* loft. It came with a 6x07 stiff flex shaft....

Based on reviews I figured this thing would be a high launcher or hook like crazy based on the shaft.....

I typically hit a draw & my bad shots are a hook (with other square to open heads combined with blueboards),but with this set up I hit a baby fade with my bad shot being a slice...not terrible, in fact it finds the fairway more often than not, but it is not long by any stretch.

After a few rounds I decided to pull some launch numbers at Austads...here is what they came back at:

Averages:
106 ss
149 ball speed
10.1 launch angle
3512 back spin
242 ball flight
255 total distance

These numbers are very weak compared to past setups. Howver I really like the feel of the head.

What do I do to get the launch up and the spin down? And what the heck is up with slicing this setup but hooking the crap out of a blueboard and even a protopype/r510tp combo?

Thoughts as to what might be the issue and more importantly, might a different shaft be part of the solution (along with a bunch of range balls of course)

Any time your launch angle is lower than your clubhead loft, unless your hands are way out in front, you know you are hitting down on the ball with a descending blow. This will increase your spin dramatically.

 

Put the ball a couple inches forward in your stance and see if that doesn't increase your LA and decrease your spin rate to an acceptable level. I think it will.

I agree with the above...

 

it isn't the arrow, it is the indian in this case. Save your money and get some lessons and start working on your game. Then, go get fitted.
