I have no idea why Cobra would do that as Titleist owns many designs and dies that could just as easily been used. Since Poulter just played TM/Miura I sure can't figure why he would care to have a "Don White" tweaked molds. Don White by the way is a custom club builder/grinder not a die machinist/grinder. The heads look just like the old 1997 Titleist Tour models so I remain baffled. Don White has a well earned reputation for custom grinding and building clubs, but they aren't magic. I have 3 sets presently sitting on my racks that he personally ground for me when I visited on 2 trips to MacGregor for their custom program--- beautiful clubs but all have long since been surpassed in performance by many standard OEM clubs.

Wasn't trying to dispute anything you said Sandy, if you took offense, apology rendered, as to why Poulter went to those particular blades, the discussion was that he remembered hitting a set of the old Norman tour stamps and wanted for Cobra to make him a set "like those". Wasn't claiming clubs were sprinkled by magic pixie dust by Don White just advising that he had helped in creation of molds referred to, and am well aware of how his work is as I also have 2 sets of Mac customs and a set of the Cobra Norman Grind tour stamps, so maybe I am biased but anyway, :)

Ian is using the Titleist 905R 8.5 Driver with the same Graffoly Blue Prot used by Daly and Retief.

This is great for Cobra many people play brands that are on tour to feel better about themselves. Maybe this will be the stepping stone for Cobra to start making better looking products and thus up the ante with prices, although I hope not, Cobra and TM were second on my list when I purchased my irons. Go get 'em Ian.

Cobra has its forgings however no true blade irons, and there's no incentive for them to make blades since blades only account for like 2% of the golf market, and that 2% is owned by its brother company Titleist.

interesting fact with poulter = i was lucky enough to be invited to a corporate bash at woburn on the tues after the last ryder cup in usa .. which obviously finished late sunday in the states = i turned up at woburn 7.30 am to have a warm up andthe obligetary

bacon sandwich = the heritage was being played at woburn later that week = ian poulter was on the practise ground ?? i repeat 7.30am...tues.

 

phil price was also there but he hadnt been in europes team..

I think a little company named Mizuno would tend to disagree with you on the 2% comment and that the blade market is dominated by titleist.

norman used mizuno mp 33s in last year's british open. i guess he really hasn't been using macgregors for that long.
