Nike 5900 SUMO 2 Reshaft Questions

I got a new 5900 driver with the stock stiff Diamana shaft but I really need a regular. The price was good even with a reshaft.

 

I guess I have three options:

 

1) Buy a stock reg shaft pull out and have it installed

 

2) Send it to Nike for a reshaft. Any idea how much this would cost??

 

3) Use a different shaft. How about a V2? Is it any similar to the stock? I need something with a med-high launch.

IMO, you can find a good clubmaker who can install almost anything you want. Nike's choices may be limited and may take a week or more to come back. More than likely, you'll need to do this through a pro shop or store. Most clubmakers can do a 24 hour turn around, or maybe even the same day.

 

By way of shafts, the V2 us a good choice. I chose a Pershing because of the med-high flight.

Thank you. I agree. It may be better to just install a different shaft instead of the stock.

I had a G10 driver along with 3 wds & hybrids all with V2HL shafts. I think it was a bad shaft more so then bad head that had me hooking like crazy. Took all back and get a 5900 9.5* with V2 (non HL) stiff and eliminated the hooking problem. My 95-105 SS certainly has nothing in common with the Pros ,but I now see why a large number of Pros,ie Love,Scott,Campbell,Furyk still use the V2 when they could play any shaft. Highly recommend.Would say the V2 might play slightly stiff to flex but not enough to change the flex you usually play. Also I have the Diamana stiff in my SQ Sumo 3 wd & 18* hybrid and wish I had the V2 in them also. More consistant then the stock Diamana.

I came from a G10 12* TFC Reg. since I need the higher loft. Reading in this forum that the 5900 launches higher than other heads I got the 10.5.

 

The question now is, Would the V2 HL provides a much higher trajectory than the V2?? I'm meeting with my clubfitter tomorrow.

 

I'm also thinking about shortening the shaft to 44.5" to begin with.

I've had my Sumo for a year and was just about ready to sell it until I reshafted for the second time. It's all about finding the right shaft for your swing. Go to your club fitter and get fitted, you won't be disapointed!

As I mentioned,I hooked and tended to also miss on both sides of fairway with G10 V2HL. The 5900 with V2 (non HL) straighten out my drives and for ME was a MUCH more stable shaft. The V2HL does hit the ball higher.

Ditto for me too~!!! (in terms of the V2HL launches it real high... don't hook, though!... this shaft still is A LOT better than the TFC stock, so, I really shouldn't be knocking it too much...)
