I went to Tokyo with my family last week, and while I was there I found some time to hit up a golf store or two and check out JDM stuff. At first I went to one and it was only a small shop with limited gear, but a few days later I was at Shinjuku and came across this particular store: Victoria Golf.

From my observation Victoria is a bigbox sports chain, so my guess is that Victoria Golf is probably the Japanese equivalent of Dicks? Nevertheless, it was VERY enjoyable. This particular store had 7 levels, with Bridgestone/TourStage and PRGR both having a dedicated floor, as well as 2 floors dedicated to Ladies gear. So no one misses out.

It seems that the prices aren't particuarly cheap even in Japan, very much in line with the prices we see at Tourspec I guess. Although I'm not sure if this is because I was at a big box store and perhaps there are better stores out there.

I also went to a department store called Isetan and they had a golf section. It was very high-end stuff there, almost everything was gold plated and the price tags had more zeros than I can count.

These photos were taken in a hurry because I wasn't sure what the photo taking policy was there, so hope you guys won't mind!

Unless there is a sale on, Victoria's prices are not cheap by any standard. No one buy at department stores since all clubs are listed at MSRP. Victoria would give you a 5% tax discount (instead of doing all tax refund documentation) if you present them with a foreign passport. Victoria is great for buying Japanese golf clothes and demo different clubs.

I was just in Japan myself two weeks ago. Went to Festival Golf in Ueno (they also have a store in Shinjuku). It's nothing on the scale of Victoria, but they have two floors, one for irons and the other for woods. A great selection of both new and used stuff, and the prices were surprisingly low.

 

I brought a list of stuff that I wanted, and they were able to search through their inventory online to tell me what was available. Made communication simple despite my poor Japanese.

 

Used stuff was generally in great shape - each had a rating like A or B to determine the shape it was in. I was surprised at how everything was in such good condition and nicely displayed - nothing like the old staff bags and 40 gallon trash cans stuffed with used drivers that are so common at big golf stores in the U.S.

 

Sales staff were great - there was one guy who spoke a rittle Engrish, which was a bonus...

I have been to that Victoria Golf! I was in heaven. My wife didn't understand the disease we all have. I wish I knew a more about JDM equipment before I went. I would have picked up more stuff. Only came home with some Royal Collection stuff. We also visited the Mizuno store. Each floor was a different sport. The golf floor had some nice stuff.

It is odd that people on this website swear that all Scotty Cameron's that have shrink wrap on them are fake. Yet, all the Scotty's in the pics have shrink wrap on them. The shrink wrap was talked about in another forum the other day, but the pics got me thinking. I think I could spend all day in a store like that. Awsome pics!!

Great stuff!! I would love to have one of those Legacy drivers. Guess prices are much more reasonable when you go over there versus buying from places like Tourspec.

nah no black MP-600 that i saw, although i did buy a sleeve of those black balls 'cross eight tour 322'. it should be a cool thing to keep around
