BEST driver EVER ??

Well I have not taken full advantage of the new Big Bertha Diablo 11 Draw Stiff as off yet, but after about 50+ drives over the weekend on the Launch Monitor I was feeling comfortable with my average 152mph CHS, 13.5-14 Degree launch, 2400-3600rpm spin with 290+y carry. I think I need to work on selecting a good golf ball with low spin and distance and getting a pair of golf shoes to take more advantage of my swing and taking over more control.

But Since I'm new to these forums I will stay in touch over the new few weeks and come back with better stats! :)

something doesnt add up, if i had to guess i would plump for chs not being 152mph, if it is even with too high a launch and too much spin the ball would fly A LOT further than 290s

BTW if you are a longdriver keep the 4th october 2010 free - longdrive event in the uk at www.stokepark.co.uk european and international qualifying good £££ $$$ and euro - please check have a look at the venue.

I'm gonna assume that if you saw 152+ it could've been ball speed, not club head, but then the 290 carry wouldn't add up. If you really did have 152 mph chs though, then A) you'd be up there with the truly elite LD guys in club head speed, and B) you're either mishitting a lot to get just 290 carry, or you've got the WORST smash factor driver head EVER. Just for the record... a really good smash factor with a 152 SS would result in 228 mph ball speed which is getting up near world record speed (correct me if I'm wrong guys). That 228 mph ball speed would result in MUCCCCH further carry than 290. My SS is 120-123 and I carry it roughly 290-305 on launch monitors depending on how well its struck.

Lol, so my advice is either to enroll in LD qualifiers IMMEDIATELY, or recheck the monitor. If you get a setup for a guy with 152 mph SS and you've got 152 mph BALL speed (roughly 100 mph SS) then you'll really struggle with that club. I mean a LOT. It'll be like swinging a titanium rod.

When it came out, the SRIXON Z-Rw musculed the SRIXON W-506 out of the bag. It defeated everything out on the market ever since. I had a demoe day scheduled on Feb 24 with the local PING rep to test the i20 irons. So, Feb 23, I went to compare my gamer with TM, Call, Clev, Cobra, Titleist drivers. The Z-Rw won again!
On demoe day, I tested the i20 & G20 and, the Z-Rw was sent out to pasture by the PING G20; the i20 driver had nothing that would crush the SRIXON.....For me! The G20 retired it.

If I'm gonna find a better driver at only six years intervals or so, I'm still ahead in the game. IMO

Bang Bangster OL or Bang-o-Matic. I still can't get over how nice these clubs feel and they flat out perform. Just got myself a VTS shafted Bangster and its the best driver i've ever hit. Look in my WITB for pics. To be fair i have yet to try a Geek head and as i know the owner of Geek is the same guy who designed the Bang drivers i'd interested to know how they feel.

Old FT-3 Tour Fade driver I had for years. I don't even remember the shaft in it. I'm thinking it was something from Aldila but not positive. I used it up until the head cracked. I could hit straight B-Line drives all day long with it. I was never intimidated by a small fairway. Then I went to R7 TP Limited and used it up until couple weeks ago. I bought every R9 TM put out and nothing could replace that R7 but if I had to pick one it would be that old FT-3. I used to be able to just swing as hard as I could even close my eyes and hit that things straight. And cut it when I wanted to. Anyone remember how many degrees open those things were? That might help me with finding a new driver.

Interesting. For a LD forum, no one mentioned the KRANK Rage head that I saw, especially since this driver head has won the last two LDA competitions. I just obtained one and have become a believer. Granted I'm 67 so I'm no longer the super bomber I once was. But the Krank Rage 6 with a 50g SKFiber Superfly shaft (extended to 48") has added close to 35-45 yards to my overall distance consistently. And it seems to be a much lower spin combination (way less movement on the ball in the air is what I'm going by).

I haven't had a chance to put it on a monitor so I don't know what it's done to launch angles, swingspeed, smash factors, etc. But I've played enough rounds on the course and used a GPS to measure the distances to know that its way way longer than any I was playing before. And it's not the longer length since I've been playing 48" length for over 10 years now. Had my first 300+ (310) drive in 4 years. Been able to go for Par 5s in two again that I haven't been for several years.

Needless to say this Krank Rage is great in my own opinion, for what it's worth.

What have others heard/tested?

SRIXON Z-Star Miyazaki Dromos after market shaft 9.5 x-stiff. I only have a swing speed of 95-98 mph, but I kill this driver. I have tried Cally 2014 BB Alpha(stiff and X), TM R1, Cobra Bio Cell +, Ping I-25,G-25, G-30, ANSER, Titleist 910 D2, 913 D2, D3 etc...all in stiff and X-stiff. Some well most of these are a bit more forgiving and I even had the Cally Alpha in my bag for a few weeks before just selling it. Nothing is within 15 yards of this club and set up. It is set up with swing weight and shaft being the most important as stated above. I think it is a combo of head and shaft more than anything else. I'd like to try some newer Srixon drivers and figure out why I can hit this X-stiff driver so well when it is clealy too stiff for me but I think it is in the shaft and swing weight and all that jazz that makes it more of a stiff than x-stiff. I hit it with a carry of only around 270 or so max but I get 20 to 40 yards of roll depending on conditions. I should only hit the ball about 275 max total but I am always pushing 290- 300 yards.
