Can someone sum up the final round for me?

Buick Invitational

Can somebody sum up todays final round at the Buick Invitational. I didn't get to watch it because I had a flat tire on my way home from the driving range. I looked at the scores and it looked like everybody fell apart. Was it an exciting round or was everybody struggling?

they let him hang around and he beat em'... typical way Eldrick has been winning lately.

Tough day for everyone. Nobody went really low. There was a big bunch at -9 for most of the day. At the very end, Ollie, Tiger and Green separated to -10 into a playoff.

Tiger was on the 2nd hole when Ollie pulled a 4 foot putt and made bogey.

It was a good day of golf. The cours eplayed LONG and tough. I can't even begin to imagine how hard the layout will be for the 2008 US OPEN. I watche dTGC this moring and they said the USGA is going to convert 2 of the current par 5's into long par 4's. One was #18 at 500-515 yards. Can you imagine that finishing hole? The green would be tough for a 4 par! The greens will be rock hard and the rough will be unreal. I think overpar will win.

Anyone else think that second playoff hole was eerily similar to Harding Park? Tiger made the same motion/expression when Ollie missed as when JD missed at the WGC. Tiger almost gives off the impression that he's embarrassed to win that way, which is understandable. But I guarantee he'd rather win like that than not win at all.

tiger wasn't steady. he was even par for the day because of a birdie he had to make on the final hole. he didn't look confident at all out there.

#18 a par 4??? maybe if your playing up a tee box. there were still a lot of players laying up on that hole. as a par 5 it is towards the easy side with the exception of what you hit into the green so you get it near the flag but don't spin it off the green.

I thought I heard they were going to move the tees up a bit on 18 and make it a 4.

Beyond that, did anyone catch the highlights of Jonathan Kaye yesterday? No birdies until 14 then birdied his way in to get to -9? That is catching lightning in a bottle!

One thing that rubbed me th wrong way with some of the tiger coverage yesterday was this... It seems that most of the times he gets into some sort of trouble, the announcers are very quick to say what he can't do, but then he pulls off a fantastic shot and they all go nuts. Have we not learned he has very few lmitations to what he can do? I realize that tiger playing ho-hum even par golf is not as exciting for the audience as all the "I can't believe he just did that..." type of comments, but it seems like they set him up to fail and then overstate the results when he does what Tiger always does - the impossible. Kind of like when he hits these ridiculous shor irons on long par 3's. They act like everyone else is hitting 3 irons and he is hitting a wedge. Like i have said, I am not a tiger fan, so I overreact to all this!!!

Can you believe how bad Nathan Green choked on the first play off hole? He had an awsome drive, then he hit a 3-wood to hard into the grandstands. Now, all he had to do was flop a ball by the hole from the rough and two putt to get into another play off hole. He ended up hitting his wedge short in the rough again, then on his fourth shot he decelerated on the down swing and duffed his ball (almost double hitting it) about three feet closer. he went on to miss his putt and was elimininated. :cheesy:

You have to remember that Tiger grew up playing on that golf course, and even through all of the redo's and modificiations, it's still very much the Torrey Pines of old that he grooved his game on.

Tiger himself has said there are two golf courses in this world where he feels unbeatable:

Augusta National.......and Torrey Pines.

Granted he didn't have a stellar final round and basically was handed the win......

UGLY!!! ONE OF THE UGLIEST FINAL ROUNDS IVER EVER WATCHED. Those guys were looking like freakin chops out there. The south course has some teeth and it showed it, but hell, it was bad. Me and some of my teammates were watching it in amazement at how bad it was. In the last 3 groups i dont think anyone was under par were they?
