okay,lowballer needs shaft selection help

I have always hit everything fairly low to mid trajectory on my irons(STRAIGHT) and

extremely low on the fairway woods and driver(LEFT AND SOMETIMES REALLLY LEFT).

 

Everyone I have talked to about my swing says it looks very smooth

with ALOT of hand action at the bottom.

SS with the driver on average is around 107 ball speed 153-157.

max SS of around 114 that is never seen on the course

it is just too uncontrolable.

launch is very low,what ever driver I hit the stated loft is usually my launch angle with very low spin

sometimes as low as 2000-2200 rpm

 

SO I picked up a 11.5 superquad with the stock reax 65 in stiff....LOVE IT,

high ball flight very minimal roll but only an average of around 255-265, :) whatever,it is predictable and is not low and left,getting ready to try a xcon-5 TP graphics shaft in stiff on just to see.

the fairway woods though---

cannot get a 3 wood in the air enough so I have a 5 wood in a R-flex steel shaft 19deg head

that I can hit great but it is still lower flight than most peoples 3-woods,

just looking for some recommendations on shafts to try in my fairways and driver.

Sounds just like me. I don't hit anything real high, especially woods. I was on a Trackman LM recently and he suggested I play a higher spinning ball like the Nike One Platinum. This was after an hour of trying different heads and shafts. The shaft in my signature is the one that seems to work the best for me, although I had very good results with the Nike Sumo2 5900 10.5° with X-Stiff stock shaft.

I had a 73gram Fubuki Stiff put in a 10.5 Callaway Legacy and it is a cannon! My swing speed is about the same as yours, on average 105. (Thank you to Joe Kwok for his excellent work.) Try the Fubuki shaft from Mitsubishi. It brought my launch angle up but the low spin characteristics of the shaft kept it from balooning.

do you launch those low also? and if so what kind of head/shaft combos have you tried?

i'm in a similar situation, or at least i was. we'll see. i've started to be able to get a higher trajectory through my swing.

 

my problem is that i don't like really soft tip shafts, so the really high launching shafts i've not had a lot of success with. so what has worked best for me, is more club loft, but a mid launch spin shaft.

 

i also need a square-ish head, so a lot of the high loft clubs don't work. there are some options though. the 11.5 taylor made you have sounds like it might be a good one for you.

 

as for fairways, i've gone with higher lofted 3 woods, 4 woods, and even 5 woods. more loft on the club with a mid launching shaft. might be something to think about. i've been looking at some gs tours that launch nicely for me recently.

 

the other thing that might be something to think about would be the low lofted (15ish, or really whatever works) hybrids, ala anthony kim. they should get the ball up easier/better/more than a wood, i should think.
